Austin Theriault hasn't been cleared by NASCAR's medical team and won't take part in Sunday's Hollywood 400 at the Kansas Speedway, he announced Thursday on social media.

Xfinity Series driver Garrett Smithley will take his place driving the No. 52 car for Rick Ware Racing.

Theriault was injured in a wreck on Monday at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama. He was in 26th place with 26 laps to go in the 188-lap race when Kurt Busch's car hit William Byron's car and set off a chain reaction crash. The 25-year-old Theriault did not finish the race.

Theriault is 35th in the NASCAR Cup standings.
