Outlook

Perhaps the most important thing Hebron Christian has going for it Friday is that the team won’t have to load up the bus and take to the road for the first time in nearly a month, and for just the second time all season.

“It’s just good to get home, and we’re looking forward to it,” Hebron coach Jeff Saturday said. “We’re definitely excited about it and trying to build off last week (in a win over Lakeview Academy). We definitely want to be more aggressive for our fans. It’s really the first full-length home game we’ve had at home, since the (only other) one was disrupted by weather.”

What that Lions will try to build further off of Friday is a running game that has gotten plenty of production from the combination of senior Winston Gassant and junior Demetrius Rogers running behind a line anchored by senior Jack Ihm, which has complemented quarterback Colten Gauthier and the passing game.

They will try to do so against a Towns County team that has struggled to an 0-6 start, and has scored just 45 points on the season.

But Saturday has implored his team not to underestimate the Indians, who are trying to establish a new culture behind first-year coach Jason Roquemore.

The last thing he wants is for his Lions to get off to a slow start and allow Towns County to build confidence.

“They’ve gotten down (early) in their games, and that makes it hard,” Saturday said. “Starting fast is so important. Other than the first two weeks, when we fell behind Clinch County and Holy Innocents’, we’ve done a pretty good job of that. But as we’ve seen, it’s hard to (have to) come back all the time because you expend a lot of energy. And the last thing we want to do is underestimate (Towns County) because they’re going to battle.”

Last meeting: Hebron won 47-0 last year
