Record: 3-4, 0-1 region

Last week: Lost to South Gwinnett 32-14

Despite losing three of its last four games, only one of Peachtree Ridge’s defeats during that span was a region game. That said, what happens in a three-game stretch over the regular season’s final three weeks will determine the Lions’ playoff fate.

That stretch begins Friday with a home game against North Gwinnett, which will be followed by an important game at Mountain View on Oct. 29 and a home game against second-ranked Mill Creek in the finale.

North is accustomed to playing for region titles, but that goal faded with losses to frontrunners Mill Creek and Collins Hill in its first two 8-AAAAAAA games. Those two games are part of a brutal stretch that saw the Bulldogs play No. 3 North Cobb, No. 2 Mill Creek and No. 1 Collins Hill in consecutive games. The Bulldogs hung tough with Collins Hill for awhile behind bright spots like Jordan Buchanan (9 1/2 tackles), Kayden McDonald (seven tackles, one for loss, one sack, one QB hurry) and Dylan Gary (six catches for 92 yards, touchdown).

North needs to forget that three-game losing streak because its postseason fate hinges on its final two region games against Peachtree Ridge on Friday and Mountain View on Nov. 5.

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.

Last meeting: North won 27-0 last year

Location: Peachtree Ridge High School
