Mill Creek senior Jake Magahey and his 400-meter freestyle relay teammates broke the junior world record Tuesday at the FINA World Junior Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Magahey, Luca Urlando, Adam Chaney and Carson Foster won gold in the event with a time of 3 minutes, 15.80 seconds, lowering the previous mark of 3:16.96, set by the Australians in 2013.

Magahey also placed eighth individually in the 400 free (3:51.19) on the championships' opening day.
