The Meridian Panthers travel baseball team, which feeds into Parkview, placed first out of 104 teams in the 12-and-under division at last week’s Cooperstown (N.Y.) Dreams Park Tournament.

The Meridian Panthers travel baseball team, which feeds into Parkview, placed first out of 104 teams in the 12-and-under division at last week’s Cooperstown (N.Y.) Dreams Park Tournament.

The Panthers went 11-0 in the event, culminating with a 6-2 win over the North Carolina Dirt Bags in the finals. They routed the Old Hickory Generals 25-6 in the semifinals, smashing nine home runs.

Meridian hit 69 home runs in the 11 games with 13 different players hitting at least one. The team had way more home runs than hits allowed (45).

Mason Davis also was second out of more than 100 participants in the Road Runner competition for fastest player around the bases.

Members of the winning team are Tyler Anglin, Porter Berryman, Landon Brooks, Evan Brown, Donnie Bryan, Mason Davis, Anthony Dye, Adrian Jimenez, Josh Layton, Yanni McDuffie, Smith McGarvey, Elijah Miller, L.B. Roldan, Blake Russell and Alex Young.

The Panthers are coached by Stevie Berryman, Brent Davis, John McGarvey, Philip Mazzara, Nick Andrews and Tim Young.
