Five local girls wrestlers continued an Atlanta wrestling academy tradition of qualifying for All-American status at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle Girls National Championships in Oklahoma City, Okla.,

Zoe Jordan from Brookwood Elementary, Lauren-Ashley Miller from Peachtree Ridge High School, Kyra Barnum from Level Creek Elementary, Raven Cook of West Jackson MIddle and Kennedy Shropshire from Mountain View High School all qualified to compete at freestyle nationals in May.

Jordan, a first-year wrestler and second grader at Brookwood Elementary, earned a sixth place finish.

Miller, at freshman at Peachtree Ridge, placed eighth.

Barnum, a fourth grader placed third, an improvement from a sixth-place finish last year. She also won state in a boys division earlier this month.

Cook finished sixth.

Shropshire placed fifth to earn her fifth All-American distinction. She competed with a dislocated knee, which happened during warm-ups just 10 minutes before her first match.
