MOUNT AIRY — Dacula swept a doubleheader from Habersham Central on Saturday, clinching the Region 8-AAAAAA softball championship and a No. 1 seed for the state playoffs.

The Falcons rolled to a 12-3 win in the opener with Emily Stern (4-for-4, double, two RBIs) and Maia Mumpfield (2-for-4, home run, five RBIs) powering the offense. Olivia Howard was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Mumpfield pitched complete games in both halves of the doubleheader.

In Game 2, Dacula edged Habersham 12-10 with big offensive showings from Emily Digby (4-for-5, home run, two RBIs), Emily Stern (3-for-5, two RBIs), Lani Johnson (2-for-4, home run, three RBIs) and Saige Herbst (2-for-4, two RBIs).
