Brant Baughcum may have only recently completed his freshman season of high school baseball, but he’s already got his college future decided on, and he won’t have to go far for it.

The Brookwood infielder announced via Twitter on Thursday afternoon his verbal commitment to attend and play baseball at Georgia Tech.

“I am very excited and blessed to announce that I will be continuing my academic and baseball career at the Georgia Institute of Technology!” Baughcum said in a Tweet late Thursday afternoon. “I would like to thank God, my family, and my coaches for getting me to where I am today.”

As a freshman this past spring, the now sophomore hit .298 with 19 RBIs, seven doubles, three triples an .817 OPS and 34 runs scored in helping the Broncos to the second round of the Class AAAAAAA state playoffs.
