PREP ROUNDUP: Brown, Dacula post road win over Habersham Central

MOUNT AIRY — Kandy Brown of Dacula nearly had a triple-double with 16 rebounds, nine points and eight blocks against Habersham Central on Friday night as the Falcons topped the Raiders 43-40 in Region 8-AAAAAA girls basketball.

Helena Lee added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Falcons with Kendall Bollmer scoring 10 points. The win pushed Dacula’s record to 8-9 overall and 2-1 in the region.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

South Gwinnett 48, Shiloh 47

SNELLVILLE — South Gwinnett logged a win in Region 8-AAAAAAA girls basketball on Friday night by nipping Shiloh 48-47.

South, now winners of eight in a row, improved to 12-4 overall and 3-1 in the region.

Shiloh (6-11, 1-3) was led by 20 points and six rebounds from Sharai Lay. Kayla West also had 14 points and four rebounds with Tanyiah Gathings finishing with nine points and four rebounds.

Grayson 78, Rockdale County 54

LOGANVILE — Grayson’s girls basketball team picked up its first Region 8-AAAAAAA win on Friday night by beating Rockdale County 78-54 at home.

Jazmin Robinson flirted with a triple-double for Grayson (7-8, 1-3) with 17 points, eight rebounds and nine steals, while Bianca Fizouaty led the team in scoring with 21 points to go along with three steals.

Parkview 54, Berkmar 19

LILBURN — Parkview received 14 points from Gabby Jester as the Panthers cruised past Berkmar 54-19 on Friday night in a Region 7-AAAAAAA game.

Diarra Smith added 11 points and four assists for Parkview, while Alyssia Duclos chipped in with 11 points and four steals. Lyric Trust also helped the defense with four steals.

Mountain View 58, North 50

SUWANEE — Mountain View held on to defeat North Gwinnett 58-50 on Friday night in a Region 6-AAAAAAA game.

Kamryn Collins led the way for the Bears (6-11, 4-4) with 22 points, while Lilian Kennedy and Alea Spears each scored 11.

Alanni Brown scored 17 to lead North (4-10, 2-5), while Jessica Belcher scored 13.

Buford 71, Cedar Shoals 19

BUFORD — Buford stayed unbeaten with a 71-19 rout of Cedar Shoals at home on Friday night in Region 8-AAAAA play.

Rachel Dobbs led Buford (14-0, 6-0) with 21 points, while Tory Ozment followed with 14 points. Buford, which hit 13 3-pointers on the night, also received 11 points each from Jessica Nelson and Audrey Weiner.

GAC 72, North Hall 58

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian stretched its winning streak to eight on Friday night with a 72-58 win at home over North Hall in Region 8-AAA.

Tamiah Lewis led the Spartans (11-4, 6-0) with 20 points, while Robyn Benton followed with 19 points. Taylor Sutton also chipped in with 13 points.

Wesleyan 71, Galloway 11

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Jameson Kavel scored 14 points and Amaya Register added 10 more as Wesleyan muscled its way past Galloway 71-11 on Friday night in a Region 5-A game.

Other contributors for Wesleyan (13-3, 4-1) were Katie Stipe with eight points, Sydney Millikan with seven points and Mikayla Coombs with seven points and seven assists.

Towns Co. 48, Hebron 33

DACULA — Towns County defeated Hebron 48-33 on Friday night in Region 8-A action.

Makenna Taylor had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead Hebron (1-15, 0-7) with Alyssa Elliot scoring six. Payton Dawson led the team in rebounds with 10.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Berkmar 99, Parkview 77

LILBURN — Berkmar just missed the century mark on Friday night as the Patriots defeating visiting Parkview 99-77 in a Region 7-AAAAAAA game.

Jay Estime had 28 points and four rebounds to lead Berkmar (14-5, 6-1) with Ben Soumahoro adding a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Al Durham also played well for Berkmar with 22 points and seven rebounds.

Central 60, Lakeside-DeKalb 52

LAWRENCEVILLE — Central Gwinnett received points from nine different players on Friday night as the Black Knights notched a 60-52 win at home over Lakeside-DeKalb in Region 7-AAAAAAA.

Jalen Hillery scored 21 to lead Central (9-9, 2-5), while Jamal John scored nine. Other contributors where Jaylen Morgan (eight points), Jallah Zeze (six points) and Skylar Adams (six points).

Grayson 68, Rockdale 47

LOGANVILLE — Travis Anderson of Grayson logged 21 points and seven assists against Rockdale County on Friday night as the Rams went to a 68-47 win in Region 8-AAAAAAA.

Nick Edwards followed with 15 points and five assists for the Rams (10-6, 3-1) with Gerald Buncum (11 rebounds, eight points, two blocks), Kenyon Jackson (10 rebounds, seven points) and Terrell Green (eight points, seven rebounds) contributing.

Dacula 75, Habersham 35

MOUNT AIRY — Dacula improved to 12-5 overall and 2-0 in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 75-35 win at Habersham Central on Friday night.

Leading scorers for Dacula were Justin Goodson with 14 points, Arusha Hunter with 12 points and Mekhail Bethea with 11 points.

GAC 69, North Hall 59

NORCROSS — Greater Atlanta Christian stayed unbeaten in Region 8-AAA at 6-0 with a 69-59 win at home over North Hall on Friday night.

Hunter McIntosh led GAC (12-4, 6-0) with 21 points, while Charlie O’Briant scored 20. Roy Dixon chipped in with nine points, while Chris Hinton had 12 rebounds and five points.

Wesleyan 47, Galloway 35

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Christian McLean led Wesleyan with 16 points on Friday night as the Wolves defeated Galloway 47-35 in a Region 5-A game.

Wesleyan (8-9, 5-2) also received 12 points from Grant Frerking.
