PREP ROUNDUP: Buford boys knock off North Hall 52-45

GAINESVILLE -- Buford climbed to the top of the Region 7-AAA standings on Tuesday night with a 52-45 win at North Hall. Both teams entered Tuesday's game undefeated in region play.

A.J. Davis led Buford (12-5, 8-0) in scoring with 23 points, while Kyle Doyle helped with 13 points. North Hall fell to 14-2 and 6-1.

The win was the seventh in a row for Buford and stopped North Hall's 11-game winning streak


Brookwood 57, Parkview 56

SNELLVILLE -- Deion Dedeaux of Brookwood hit a free throw with four seconds remaining to lift Brookwood 57-56 over Region 8-AAAAAA rival Parkview.

Brookwood led by as many as 14 before Parkview rallied to tie the score at 56-56. Dedeaux was fouled with four seconds left and hit 1 of 2, giving Parkview a chance for the win, only to see its final shot miss.

Dedeaux finished with 21 points and six assists for the Broncos (15-4, 7-3), while Kendall Joseph scored 14. Khalil Abdullah added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The loss dropped Parkview to 2-17 overall and 0-10 in the region.

MIll Creek 67, Meadowcreek 60

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek used a strong defensive effort in the second half on Tuesday night to come away with a 67-60 win over Meadowcreek in a Region 7-AAAAAA battle.

Trevon Shaw poured in 33 points to lead Mill Creek (13-5, 6-4), which had eight players in the scoring column. T.J. Christopher also helped in the win with 15 points.

Meadowcreek fell to 5-12 overall and 3-7 in the region.

Peachtree Ridge 68, Duluth 39

SUWANEE -- Three Peachtree Ridge players scored in double figures Tuesday night as the Lions roared past Duluth 68-39 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Kevin Barnes and Amir Warnock led the Lions (13-6, 9-1) with 12 points each, while Jordan Capps added 11 points.

Duluth fell to 11-7 overall and 3-6 in the region.

Collins Hill 49, Habersham 24

SUWANEE --Collins Hill had 11 players score on Tuesday night as the Eagles downed Habersham Central 49-24 in a Region 7-AAAAAA game.

Devin Mitchell was the top scorer for the Eagles (13-6, 7-3) with 12 points, while Darius Joell finished with 10 points and six steals. Johncarlos Reyes also helped in the win with seven blocks and six points.

Archer 52, Grayson 47 OT

LOGANVILLE -- Archer received 22 points from Randall Smith and 20 more from Nafis Floyd as the Tigers scratched their way past Grayson 52-47 on overtime.

The win bumped the Tigers to 14-4 overall and 8-2 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Grayson (9-9, 3-7) was led by 17 points from Marquise Lanier.

Apalachee 66, Clarke Central 63

ATHENS -- Cameron Blakley of Apalachee hit four free throws in the final minute on Tuesday night to lift the Wildcats a 66-63 over Clarke Central in a Region 8-AAAAA clash.

Blakley finished with 18 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks, while Kamar Baldwin added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Austin Miller also provided solid play off the bench with nine points and six boards for Apalachee (13-3, 7-3).

Lanier 70, Monroe Area 52

MONROE -- Lanier led from tip to buzzer on Tuesday night as the Longhorns posted a 70-52 win over Monroe Area in Region 8-AAAA.

Jordan Harper had 18 points and nine assists to lead Lanier (11-8, 2-0), while Paul Webb logged 12 points and 10 rebounds.

GAC 79, Westminster 44

ATLANTA -- Greater Atlanta Christian had three players score in double figures on Tuesday night as the Spartans downed Westminster 79-44 in Region 6-AA.

Top scorer for GAC (15-3, 3-0) was Isaiah Wilkins with 27 points. Tyler Hamilton added 12 points, while Collin Swinton contributed 10 points.

Wesleyan 45, Hapeville Charter 43

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan improved to 9-9 overall and 2-1 in Region 6-AA on Tuesday night with a 45-43 win over Hapeville Charter.

Will Clifton was the leading scorer for Wesleyan with 17 points, while Charles Mack and Jaylen Clarke each chipped in with seven points.

Lakeview 57, Hebron 43

GAINESVILLE -- Lakeview Academy defeated Hebron on Tuesday night 57-43 in Region 8-A.

Hebron (5-12, 2-4) was led in scoring by 12 points from Tyler Skidgel.


Parkview 69, Brookwood 27

SNELLVILLE -- Marissa Mandeldove set a new career high in points with 24 on Tuesday night in helping Parkview top Brookwood 69-27 in a Region 8-AAAAAA.

Genesis Perrymond added 12 points as Parkview ran its record to 18-0 overall and 10-0 in the region. Brookwood (10-8, 5-5) was led by six points from Courtney Gardner.

Archer 52, Grayson 27

LOGANVILLE -- Archer scored 17 points in the first quarter, while holding Grayson to zero as the Tigers opened up an early lead and ran away with a 52-27 win over the Rams on Tuesday night.

Madison Newby led Archer with 11 points, 10 steals, seven assists and five rebounds, while Kayla Rogers added nine points, seven steals and four boards. Holli Sturgill also chipped in with eight points in the fourth quarter.

Archer improved to 13-5 overall and 8-2 in the region, while Grayson, which was led by 14 rebounds and seven points from Jessica Ewing, fell to 3-13 overall and 1-9 in the region.

Collins Hill 47, Habersham 45

SUWANEE -- Collins Hill canned 11 shots from 3-point land on Tuesday night as the Eagles outlasted Habersham Central 47-45 in Region 7-AAAAAA action.

Sydney Brown led Collins Hill (6-12, 2-8) with 12 points and three rebounds, while Brittany Stowers added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Other contributors were Nykeria Smith with eight assists and five steals and Madison McAfee with six points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Habersham (12-6, 4-6) also shot well with nine 3-pointers.

Mill Creek 65, Meadowcreek 32

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek had a balanced attack on offense Tuesday night as the Hawks topped Meadowcreek 65-32 in Region 7-AAAAAA.

Meredith Schulte led Mill Creek with nine points and six rebounds, while India Dillard added nine points and four boards. Kathleen Haxton and Nadiya Miller each chipped in eight points, while Shannon McCrosson led the Hawks (10-8, 7-3) in assists with eight.

Meadowcreek fell to 4-13 overall and 1-9 in the region.

Duluth 62, Peachtree Ridge 44

SUWANEE -- Aliyah McGriff logged 17 points on Tuesday night in leading Duluth 62-44 over Peachtree Ridge in Region 7-AAAAAA action.

Duluth (12-6, 6-3) also received 13 points from Joi Jones and 12 points from Katie Powell.

The loss dropped the Lions to 6-11 overall and 2-8 in the region.

Lanier 54, Monroe Area 49

MONROE -- Lanier won its first Region 8-AAAA game of the season on Tuesday night as the Longhorns withstood a late surge from Monroe Area to post a 54-49 win over the Purple Hurricanes.

Shelby Threlkeld led Lanier (5-13, 1-1) in scoring with 13 points, while Taylor-Rose Gibson-Green and Melanie Galvez each helped with nine points.

The win snapped a six-game losing skid for Lanier.

Buford 59, North Hall 25

GAINESVILLE -- Buford stayed unbeaten in Region 7-AAA on Tuesday night with a 59-25 win over North Hall.

Kaela Davis led the Wolves (12-3, 8-0) with 15 points, while Bree Horrocks followed with 11 points.

Wesleyan 74, Hapeville Charter 14

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan encountered little resistance in Tuesday night as the Wolves rolled to a 74-14 win over Hapeville Charter in a Region 6-AA game.

Katie Frerking scored her game-high 21 points all in the first half, while Nikki McDonald followed with 16 points. Wesleyan (14-3, 3-0) also received help from Keevana Edwards and Taylor Casey with eight points each. Edwards also finished the night with eight rebounds.

Hebron 51, Lakeview 28

GAINESVILLE -- Amber Skidgel of Hebron put in 23 points Tuesday night in leading the Lions 51-28 over Lakeview Academy in Region 8-A.

Hannah Lentz followed with 16 points for Hebron (7-10, 3-3), while Jozie Lewis grabbed 14 rebounds. Ashleigh Stanley led the team in assists with 10.

Providence 40, Tallulah Falls 19

TALLULAH FALLS -- Providence picked up a Region 8-A win on Tuesday night with a 40-19 triumph over Tallulah Falls. Aubrey Gold had 13 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Storm (9-6, 5-1), while Allie Petmecky added 11 points.


Meadowcreek retains title in Battle of Norcross

NORCROSS -- Meadowcreek scored pins in three of the last four matches to come back and defeat Norcross 41-36 on Tuesday night in the Battle of Norcross.

Meadowcreek (30-9) won eight of the 14 matches, including pinfalls from Rene DeLuna (132 pounds), William Bailey (152), OG Harden (170) and Ryan Moore (182).

GAC 55, Model 12

Greater Atlanta Christian had five wrestlers record pins as it defeated Model 55-12 on Tuesday.

Hunter Hemmings (106 pounds), Emeritus Morris (126), Carter Clinebell (132), Adam Nakada (152) and Brayden Long (285) each had pins.
