New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton is slated to return from the injured list in September, general manager Brian Cashman told The Athletic on Thursday.
The 29-year-old outfielder is on the 60-day IL with a strained PCL in his right knee. The four-time All-Star has not played since June 25.
In nine games earlier this season, Stanton was 9-for-31 with one homer and seven RBIs.
Stanton is a .268 career hitter with 306 homers and 779 RBIs over 10 seasons with the Yankees (2018-19) and Florida/Miami Marlins (2010-17).
He was the National League's Most Valuable Player in 2017, when he led the majors with 59 home runs and 132 RBIs.
