Oregon is hiring former Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead as offensive coordinator, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

Moorhead was fired on Jan. 3 after leading the Bulldogs to a 14-12 record and two bowl appearances in two seasons in Starkville. He was replaced last week by Mike Leach.

The 46-year-old interviewed with Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal over the weekend and will replace Marcus Arroyo, who left to become the head coach at UNLV.

Under Moorhead, Mississippi State was 6-7 in 2019 and ranked seventh in the SEC in both total offense (400.1 yards per game) and scoring (27.6 points per game).

Moorhead was the head coach at his alma mater Fordham from 2012-15 and has served as the offensive coordinator at Penn State (2016-17), Connecticut (2009-10), Akron (2006-08) and Georgetown (2003).
