Heroic swept AVANGAR 2-0 on Thursday to claim the final European qualifying spot for ESL One Cologne 2019.
The Cologne tournament, a $300,000 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive event, is scheduled for July 2-7.
On May 10, Team Vitality beat Heroic 2-1 in the European qualifying winners-bracket final to book a place in Cologne. That knocked Heroic into the losers-bracket final against AVANGAR, which had won twice in that bracket on May 10 to advance.
When Heroic and AVANGAR finally faced off on Thursday, Heroic won Overpass 16-4 and Dust II 16-13 to advance to Cologne.
The ESL One Cologne 2019 field will include 16 teams, 11 of them invitees: Astralis, BIG, ENCE, FaZe Clan, Fnatic, MIBR, mousesports, Natus Vincere, Ninjas in Pyjamas, NRG Esports and Renegades.
In addition to Team Vitality and Heroic as the two European qualifiers, MVP PK won an Asian qualifying event, and FURIA Esports prevailed in a North American qualifying tournament.
The final place in Cologne will go to the winner of the eight-team, $5,000 GG.Bet Cologne Invitational that began Thursday and runs through Monday.
