FunPlus Phoenix beat G2 Esports 3-0 on Sunday to win the Summoner's Cup and be crowned LOL 2019 World Champions at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris.
The Chinese team will receive 37.5 percent of the prize pool, which will be at least $2.225 million in total. G2 will take home 13.5 percent of the pool.
Both teams were playing in their first Worlds final, but G2 came into it with the edge in experience.
The second-place team out of Group A, G2 is considered the best European LOL team in history, having arrived at the Worlds as Europe's LEC Summer Champion. They also won the $1 million Mid-Season Invitational, where G2 eliminated SKT 3-2 in a dramatic semifinal contest.
But FPX, which won the LPL Summer Playoffs to earn an automatic entry into the World Championship, rebounded from a spotty performance in Group B play to dominate in the playoffs and become the second consecutive world champion from China.
The Worlds began with 16 teams divided into four groups for a double round robin of best-of-one matches. The top two teams in each group advanced to the best-of-five quarterfinals.
