Cormac "doolsta" Dooley used a 2-1 victory in the second leg of the eMLS Cup final to claim the title on Saturday night, giving him a perfect sweep of the three titles of the eMLS season.
Representing the Philadelphia Union, doolsta won eMLS League Series One in January and Series Two in February before facing Giuseppe "GGGodfather" Guastella, representing the LA Galaxy, in Saturday's final.
The first leg finished scoreless, putting everything on the line for the second leg. GGGodfather opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a 14-yard strike by Cristiano Ronaldo. But doolsta equalized, also using Ronaldo, who finished a crafty passing sequence in the first minute of first-half stoppage time.
He added the game-winning goal in the 75th minute, after Luka Modric's short through-ball found Ronaldo, who buried it in the top left corner.
"Luckily I got it done," the 18-year-old said afterward. "It's just a perfect way to end the season, all three (titles)."
As the winner, doolsta claimed a $25,000 prize and 850 FIFA Global Series Points, which go toward qualification for the summer's FIFA eWorldCup. Both finalists qualified to represent the United States at the inaugural eNations Cup next month.
It took plenty of work just to reach the final. After a 4-1 victory in the Eastern Conference semifinals over Abraham "FIFA Abe" Valbuena of Orlando City, doolsta had to endure a see-saw conference final against Christopher "NYC_CHRIS" Holly of NYCFC, featuring 10 total goals -- two in extra time -- and a seven-round penalty shootout.
Down 3-2 and then 4-3, doolsta equalized twice in the second half, with the second coming in the 90th minute of regulation. He then took the lead in the 104th minute, only to give up an equalizer in the 108th minute. But doolsta ultimately prevailed 7-6 in the shootout to book a spot in the final.
GGGodfather reached the final with a 1-0 victory over Alan "AlanAvi" Avila of FC Dallas, after beating Erfan "Skill Shack" Hosseini of the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-2 in the knockout round and Guillermo "Kid M3mito" Trevino in the Western Conference semifinals.
