THIS WEEK: All of NASCAR takes the next two weeks off to make way for the Olympics, including the Cup Series, which returns at Watkins Glen, N.Y., on Aug. 8 for the 23rd of 36 races this season. ... Aric Almirola earned an emotional - and playoff clinching - victory at New Hampshire on Sunday in a race shortened by darkness after rain had delayed things earlier. "It is no doubt that we have struggled, but guess what, we're going playoff racing," Almirola said. It was the first win for powerhouse Stewart Haas Racing this season. ... Denny Hamlin, still winless this season, leads the standings with 874 points, followed by *Kyle Larson (861), *William Byron (749), *Kyle Busch (740), *Chase Elliott (736), *Joey Logano (733), *Martin Truex Jr. (696), *Ryan Blaney (689), *Brad Keselowski (676), Kevin Harvick (673), *Alex Bowman (637), Tyler Reddick (596), *Kurt Busch (552), *Christopher Bell (532), *Michael McDowell (448) and *Almirola (377). The top 16 in points, and race wins, get into the playoffs. Eight drivers are ahead of Almirola on points, but out of the playoffs because they don't have a win. Next on the winless hit list is Harvick, Almirola's teammate.
NASCAR XFINITY SERIES
THIS WEEK: The series is also off until coming back at Watkins Glen on Aug. 7 for the 20th of 33 races this season. ... Cup regular Christopher Bell made it three New Hampshire race wins a row on Saturday. ... *Austin Cindric (797 points) leads the standings, followed by *AJ Allmendinger (715), Daniel Hemric (684), *Justin Allgaier (653), Harrison Burton (615), *Jeb Burton (589), Justin Haley (577), Noah Gragson (544), Brandon Jones (489), Jeremy Clements (468), *Myatt Snider (426) and Riley Herbst (418) making up the 12 drivers who would currently make the playoffs.
NASCAR GANDER OUTDOORS TRUCK SERIES
THIS WEEK: The series is off for the next two weeks. ... The Trucks are back on the track at Watkins Glen on Aug 7 for the 15th of 22 races on the season. ... *John Hunter Nemechek leads the standings (605), followed by *Ben Rhodes (520), *Austin Hill (510), *Todd Gilliland (458), Zane Smith (451), Matt Crafton (430), *Sheldon Creed (413), Carson Hocevar (372), Stewart Friesen (364) and Chandler Smith (351) make up the 10 drivers currently in the seven-race playoffs.
NTT DATA INDYCAR SERIES
THIS WEEK: The series is off the track to make way for the Olympics until returning for the Music City Grand Prix in Nashville, Tenn., on Aug. 8 for the 11th of 16 races on the season. ... Spain's Alex Palou has the points lead (384) in his Honda-powered Dallara, followed by Mexico's Pato O'Ward (345) in a Chevrolet-powered Dallara, while New Zealander Scott Dixon (328) is in third in his Honda, Newgarden (321) in a Chevy is in fourth and Sweden's Marcus Ericsson in a Honda (255) rounds out the top five.

THIS WEEK: The series takes a week off after a thrilling and controversial English Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. The top two title contenders, leader Max Verstappen and second-place Lewis Hamilton collided on the first lap, with Hamilton going on to win and Verstappen unable to continue without finishing a lap. ... Verstappen had won three races in a row and four of the last five heading into the British GP. ... Next up for the series is the Hungarian Grand Prix on the legendary Hungaroring on Aug. 1 for the 11th of 24 races this season before the traditional three-week summer layoff. ... Belgium's Verstappen (185 points) leads the standings in his Red Bull, followed by Great Britain's Hamilton (177) in a Mercedes, Britain's Lando Norris (113) in a McLaren Mercedes, Finland's Valtteri Bottas (108) in a Mercedes with Mexico's Sergio Perez (104) in a Red Bull rounding out the top five.

THIS WEEK: The series continues its annual "Western Swing" in California for the Sonoma NHRA Nationals in Sonoma for the ninth of 20 events scheduled this season, heading next week to Pomona, Calif., for the delayed Winternationals at Auto Club Raceway. ... Winners last week outside Denver were Steve Torrence in Top Fuel, Matt Hagan in Funny Car, and Matt Smith in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Pro Stock took the week off but is back at Sonoma. ... Torrence leads the Top Fuel standings (858 points), followed by Antron Brown (551) and Brittany Force (505). ... Bob Tasca III has the lead in Funny Car (643), with John Force (593) second, followed by Hagan (558). ... Greg Anderson leads Pro Stock (648), with Erica Enders (506) and Aaron Stanfield (479) behind him. ... Smith (626) leads the Motorcycles, with Steve Johnson (463) and Scotty Pollacheck (381) giving chase.
