Astralis and Team Liquid each won a tight battle on Wednesday to secure playoff spots at the $600,000 ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals in Odense, Denmark.
Both squads survived a best-of-three match on the second day of Group B play at the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament.
Astralis rallied past G2 Esports after an early hiccup. G2 took Dust II 16-13 for the lead, but Astralis evened it with a 19-15 overtime victory on Inferno and won it with a 16-14 triumph on Train.
Liquid seesawed past mousesports in their best-of-three series, first taking Nuke 16-5 but dropping Vertigo 16-12. In the deciding map, Liquid held off a mousesports charge to win 16-14 on Dust II.
Astralis and Liquid will face off in a best-of-three on Thursday, with the winner earning a bye to the semifinals of the six-team playoff bracket. The loser will go to the quarterfinals as Group B's second seed.
In Group B lower-bracket action, Renegades rallied past Sharks Esports 2-1 -- losing Dust II 16-7 but taking Mirage 16-5 and Nuke 16-12 -- and ATK swept North, 16-9 on Overpass and 16-8 on Vertigo.
Renegades will face mousesports on Thursday, while ATK face G2. The winners will play each other for the final Group B playoff spot.
Group A had no upper-bracket action Wednesday -- Natus Vincere and Evil Geniuses will face off for a playoff bye on Thursday -- but two lower-bracket matches were played.
Fnatic rallied past MIBR 2-1 -- winning Inferno 16-10, dropping Dust II 19-16 in overtime and winning Vertigo 16-11 -- and 100 Thieves did the same against FaZe Clan. After 100 Thieves took Inferno 16-11, FaZe won Dust II 16-12, before 100 Thieves closed it out with a 16-7 win on Mirage.
Fnatic and 100 Thieves will play Thursday for Group A's final playoff spot.
The playoffs, to be held Friday through Sunday, will feature best-of-three matches in the quarters and semis and best-of-five in the final.
