SUWANEE — North Gwinnett’s volleyball team won both of its matches Thursday in pool play for the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Bulldogs topped Greater Atlanta Christian 25-21, 25-22, and defeated Archer 25-8, 25-15.

North’s top performers were Joya Screen (14 kills, three aces, three blocks, three digs), Izzy Durnell (nine kills, four aces, two blocks, four digs), Shannon Quinn (36 assists, six aces, four digs, one block), Macey Sipmann (seven kills, two blocks) and Laura Thomas (six kills, three aces, six digs).

VOLLEYBALL

Mill Creek goes 3-0

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mill Creek went a perfect 3-0 in pool play Thursday in the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Hawks defeated Mountain View (25-9, 25-14), Peachtree Ridge (25-15, 25-11) and Central Gwinnett (25-7, 25-6).

Mountain View took second with a 2-1 mark. The Bears defeated Peachtree Ridge (19-25, 25-18, 15-3) and Central Gwinnett (25-13, 25-9).

Peachtree Ridge was third by virtue of a 25-13, 25-8 win over Central.

Norcross goes 1-1

NORCROSS — Norcross went 1-1 in pool play for the Gwinnett County Championships on Tuesday.

Wesleyan defeated Norcross 25-16, 19-25, 15-13, and Norcross beat Collins Hill 25-18, 25-20.

The Blue Devils (13-8) were led by Bella Murray (10 kills, 19 assists), Anna Amason (nine kills), Reesa Schroeder (22 digs) and Maya Ballerstedt (eight kills, five blocks).

Parkview goes 1-2

DACULA — Parkview went 1-2 Thursday in its Gwinnett County Championships pool-play matches.

The Panthers (21-12) defeated Shiloh 25-5, 25-7, but lost three-set matches to Hebron (17-25, 25-17, 15-8) and Duluth (25-19, 13-25, 15-7).

They were led by Meg Youngblood (23 digs), Brooke Godfree (22 assists), Jordan Godfree (18 assists, 12 kills, 13 digs), Mia Mattson (13 kills) and Abby Schirm (12 digs).

Dacula sweeps

DACULA — Dacula ran its winning streak to nine matches with two pool-play victories Thursday in the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Falcons (23-11) defeated South Gwinnett (25-5, 25-0) and Providence Christian (25-16, 25-11). Providence defeated South 25-11, 25-15 in the site’s other match.

Dacula’s top performers were Arissa Shepherd (10 aces, 12 kills, 10 digs), Anna Beth Stokes (five aces, seven kills, 15 assists, nine digs) and Abby White (100 percent on serves, two kills, two blocks, two digs).

Buford wins three

BUFORD — Buford won all three of its pool play matches Thursday in the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Wolves beat Grayson (25-12, 25-7), Lanier (25-10, 25-20) and Berkmar (25-8, 25-8).

Grayson was second in the pool with wins over Berkmar (25-11, 25-2) and Lanier (25-11, 25-18). Lanier took third with a 25-6, 25-14 win over Berkmar.

Wesleyan goes 2-0

NORCROSS — Wesleyan won both of its matches in pool play Thursday for the Gwinnett County Championships.

Its victories were 25-16, 19-25, 15-13 over Norcross, and 25-23, 25-13 over Collins Hill.

The Wolves (24-7) were led by 27 digs from Lauren Van Wie, 18 kills from Alden Pridgen and 48 assists from Riley Bryan.

Hebron wins three

DACULA — Hebron Christian swept its three matches Thursday in pool play for the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Lions defeated Duluth (25-16, 25-10), Parkview (17-25, 25-17, 15-8) and Shiloh (25-10, 25-9).

Hebron (31-4) got stellar play from Carly Heidger (20 kills, three blocks), Malia Fisher (18 kills, seven blocks), Hoake Mazzawi (11 kills), Angelia Bonner (38 assists), Morgan Smith (23 assists), Emma Tennant (19 digs) and Elizabeth Ann Farmer (six aces).

Providence goes 1-1

DACULA — Providence Christian finished pool play 1-1 Thursday in the Gwinnett County Championships.

The Storm (19-17) defeated South Gwinnett 25-12, 25-15, but lost to host Dacula 25-16, 25-11.

Taylor Lewis (seven aces, six digs), Ryan Jeremiah (nine kills) and Maisy Hufford (nine kills) were Providence’s top performers.
