GAINESVILLE — North Gwinnett’s volleyball team went 4-0 in the its season-opening Queen of the Court Play Date at Gainesville on Saturday.

The Bulldogs defeated Providence Christian 25-7, 25-16, topped Stephens County 25-11, 25-9, beat Gainesville 25-12, 25-10 and outlasted Lanier 25-22, 25-22.

Abby Taylor (89 assists, nine digs, six blocks, seven kills, four aces), Joya Screen (27 kills, five aces, six digs, seven blocks), Micah Diffley (23 kills, two aces, nine digs) and Lindsay Kahren

(23 digs, three aces, two assists) were among the North standouts.

Macey Sipmann (15 kills, three blocks) and Izzy Durnell (16 kills, 16 digs, six blocks) also played well.


Parkview has 3-1 day

LILBURN — Parkview won three of four matches Saturday in the Queen of the Court Play Date.

The Panthers defeated Loganville 25-16, 25-23, Tallulah Falls 25-15, 25-27, 15-12 and North Cobb 25-21, 25-14. St. Pius beat Parkview 25-17, 25-15.

Parkview (6-3) was led by Sarah Ramsey (25 assists), Meg Youngblood (21 digs), Abby Schirm (16 digs), Kayla Turnbow (11 kills), Mia Mattson (10 kills) and Tia Ragland (nine blocks).

Brookwood goes 2-2

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood went 2-2 in the Queen of the Court Play Date on Saturday.

The Broncos (2-4) defeated Winder-Barrow 25-21, 16-25, 15-9, and topped Loganville Christian 25-19, 25-20. Morgan County beat Brookwood 25-9, 25-17, and Lakeview Academy beat the Broncos 25-22, 23-25, 15-11.

Dacula splits matches

DACULA — Dacula went 2-2 in its Queen of the Court Play Date on Saturday. The Falcons are now 6-2 on the season.

Athens Academy (25-21, 24-26, 15-9) and Apalachee (18-25, 25-15, 15-13) beat Dacula in three sets, and the Falcons posted wins over Archer (25-19, 25-13) and West Forsyth (25-18, 25-23).

Dacula’s top performers were Abby Askue (eight aces, 11 digs), Claire Smith (eight aces, 27 assists), Arissa Shepherd (33 kills, 36 digs) and Anna Beth Stokes (six aces, 26 kills, four blocks, 42 assists).

Hebron unbeaten on the day

DACULA — Hebron Christian improved to 5-1 on the season with a 4-0 Saturday at the Top Ten Play Day.

The Lions defeated Savannah Christian (25-20, 25-18), Eagle’s Landing Christian (25-22, 15-25, 15-12), Savannah Country Day (25-14, 25-11) and Trinity Christian (25-21, 25-13).

Malia Fisher led Hebron with 49 kills, and Carly Heidger had 30 kills and six blocks. Emma Tennant had 20 kills, and Morgan Smith had 52 assists.

Angelia Bonner had 47 assists, Ramsey Chambers had six aces and Elizabeth Ann Farmer added 24 digs.

Providence opens season

GAINESVILLE — Providence Christian went 1-3 Saturday in the season-opening Queen of the Court Play Date.

The Storm’s win was 25-22, 25-13 over Stephens County. Their losses were to North Gwinnett (25-5, 25-16), Gainesville (25-12, 25-12) and Lanier (25-17, 25-14).

Taylor Lewis (11 aces, 15 digs) and Maisy Hufford (seven aces, 22 kills) led the way for Providence.

Wesleyan goes 3-1

ATLANTA — Wesleyan went 3-1 Saturday in the Class A/AA play day at Holy Innocents'.

The Wolves defeated Trinity Christian 2-0, St. Vincents 2-1 and Calvary Baptist 2-0. Their loss loss was 2-0 to Mount Paran.

Wesleyan (5-1) was led by Sophia Shaffer (seven aces, 31 digs), Avery Daum (24 kills), Alden Pridgen (16 kills), Amber Mathis (15 kills), M.J. Reinhard (25 digs) and Lauren Van Wie (51 digs).
