Buford’s football recruits celebrate on National Signing Day at Buford High School.

A dozen football players who helped Buford to back-to-back state championships were celebrated Wednesday night for National Signing Day.

Those 12 players signed with a variety of colleges, highlighted by wide receiver Isaiah Bond and defensive back Jake Pope, who will be future teammates at Alabama. Colorado also signed two Buford seniors, running back Victor Venn and linebacker Aubrey Smith.

While those duos will play together at the next level, two Wolves will be on opposite sides of a stories football rivalry — wide receiver Tobi Olawole for Army and defensive lineman River Wilson for Navy.

Power Five programs littered the group of college signees that also featured running back C.J. Clinkscales (Boston College), quarterback Ashton Daniels (Stanford), defensive back Ryland Gandy (Pittsburgh), linebacker V.J. Payne (Kansas State), linebacker Malik Spencer (Michigan State) and defensive lineman Josiah Wyatt (Appalachian State).
