SUWANEE — Simone Leonard’s hit in the bottom of the 11th inning brought home the winning run in the North Gwinnett softball team’s 5-4 win over Archer on Thursday.

Lily Runaas earned the victory after pitching six innings and allowing just two hits. She struck out four and escaped the international tiebreaker two straight innings without giving up a run.

Marisa Miller also was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for North (12-2).

SOFTBALL

Mountain View 3, Mill Creek 2

LAWRENCEVILLE — Lauren Evens manufactured a run in the bottom on the eighth inning and scored on Callie Shrope’s fielder’s choice grounder, giving Mountain View a 3-2 win over visiting Mill Creek on Thursday.

Evens led off the eighth with a single, advanced to second base on Lexie Simonton’s sacrifice bunt and advanced to third base on a wild pitch.

Sarah Currie (10-1) pitched a complete game for the victory, and also hit a solo home run. She scattered nine hits, allowed one earned run and struck out three with no walks.

Shrope had two hits and two RBIs, Evens had two hits and scored two runs and Brooke Finley also had two hits. Simonton and Ahmari Braden had doubles, and Kellie Ervin added a single.

The Bears, 15-3 overall, improved to 4-0 in Region 8-AAAAAAA. Mill Creek fell to 8-5 and 2-3.

Parkview 8, Newton 0

LILBURN — Olivia Kotowski pitched a six-inning, two-hitter Thursday as Parkview defeated visiting Newton 8-0.

Kellyn Hartwick and Lauren Brister each went 3-for-4 with two RBIs for the Panthers, now 8-8 overall and 3-2 in Region 4-AAAAAAA.

Newton falls to 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the region.

Peachtree Ridge 6, Collins Hill 2

SUWANEE — Kennedy Harp and Ava Lunsford hit home runs Thursday in Peachtree Ridge’s 6-2 win over Collins Hill.

Harp, Lunsford and Jaylah Jarrell had multiple hits for the Lions. Elle Lunsford pitched all seven innings for the win. She allowed three hits and two runs. She struck out six and walked none.

Emily Whitehead hit a two-run home run for Collins Hill’s runs.

Brookwood 13, Norcross 0

NORCROSS — Brookwood rolled to a 13-0 victory at Norcross on Thursday.

Grace Young was the winning pitcher, striking out three and allowing one hit.

The Broncos were led offensively by Thalia Martin (2-for-4, two RBIs), Anna Dover (2-for-3, two RBIs), Jessica Newsom (2-for-3, RBI) and Morgan Hall (2-for-2, RBI).

Grayson 16, South Gwinnett 1

LOGANVILLE — Grayson defeated South Gwinnett 16-1 on Thursday.

Kylie Macy struck out six in two innings for the Rams (13-2), who got two hits each from Hailey Roberts, Kayla Lang and Samantha Smith.

Buford 10, Lanier 4

BUFORD — Buford rallied for eight runs in the fifth and sixth innings Thursday, and remained unbeaten in Region 8-AAAAAA with a 10-4 victory over Lanier.

The Wolves scored a run on an error in the first inning and another in the second on Taylor Malvin’s RBI single. Lanier went ahead 4-2 with a run in the third and three runs in the fifth before Buford tied the score with two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Malvin started the fifth with an inside-the-park home run, which was followed by a Mackenzie Pickens triple. Chloe Hatcher’s infield single scored Pickens for the tying run. The Wolves (13-2, 8-0) broke the game open with six runs in the sixth.

Buford’s offensive leaders were Malvin (2-for-2, home run, sacrifice fly, three RBIs, two runs, one stolen base), Mackenzie Pickens (2-for-4, triple, one RBI, two runs), Abbi Perkins (1-for-4, triple, two RBIs, one run) and Alicia Ross (2-for-3, two runs).

Emma Grace Williams (7-0) pitched all seven innings for the win, scattering 10 hits and allowing four earned runs. She struck out seven and walked three.

Dacula 9, Shiloh 1

DACULA — Maia Mumpfield pitched a complete game and drove in a run Thursday in Dacula’s 9-1 win over Shiloh in 8-AAAAAA. She struck out two and allowed four hits.

Lani Johnson, Michaela Hawkins and Riley Ballew also drove in runs for the Falcons (10-3).

St. Pius 4, Greater Atlanta Christian 2

ATLANTA — GAC’s Annie Ahmed and Rachel Pellegrini each went 2-for-4 Thursday in a 4-2 loss at St. Pius.

Pitcher Sydney Deardorff struck out four.

Wesleyan 16, St. Francis 0

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Wesleyan cruised Thursday for a 16-0 win on Senior Night.

The Wolves were led by Reece Holbrook, who was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. Gracie Taylor went 2-for-2 with a a triple and an RBI, Elizabeth Bertram was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Emma Nydam was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Lindsey Suits had a double and an RBI and Riley Keller drew two walks and scored a run in addition to stellar defense at first base.

Lily Nydam and Ryley Kutter combined for a no-hitter in the circle.

George Walton 3, Hebron 0

DACULA — George Walton defeated Hebron Christian 3-0 on Thursday.

Carly Fahey and Morgan Smith each went 1-for-3 for the Lions (7-3). George Walton improved to 11-1.
