Buford's girls basketball team outlasted Loganville in a tight game to win 47-35, and the Wolves' boys defeated Cedar Shoals 88-86, sweeping the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament titles Friday at Clarke Central.

ATHENS — Buford's girls basketball team outlasted Loganville in a tight game to win 47-35, and the Wolves' boys defeated Cedar Shoals 88-86, sweeping the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament titles Friday at Clarke Central.

Ashyia Willis led the Buford girls (26-1) with 13 points, and Tate Walters had 11 points.

Buford's boys (21-6) led Cedar Shoals by 12 entering the fourth quarter and held on for the win.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Lanier 45, Habersham Central 20

GAINESVILLE — Zuriyah Davis led Lanier with 25 points in a 45-20 victory over Habersham Central on Friday in the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament semifinals.

Christabel Ezumah scored eight points for the Longhorns (17-9), who will face Dacula for the region championship.

Dacula 51, Winder-Barrow 42

GAINESVILLE — Lazaria Spearman scored 23 points to lead Dacula past Winder-Barrow 51-42 on Friday in the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament semifinals.

Jin Sileo scored 12 points and Haneefat Adanijo scored nine points for the Falcons (23-3).

GAC 55, Fannin County 43

GAINESVILLE —  Greater Atlanta Christian pulled away late to win a Region 7-AAA semifinal matchup against Fannin County 55-43 on Friday.

Kaleigh Addie led the Spartans with 27 points, six rebounds and five steals. Jaci Bolden scored 10 points and was 3-for-5 on 3-pointers, Molly Pritchard grabbed 18 rebounds and made four steals, Laurren Randolph scored nine points, grabbed 12 rebounds and was 5-for-6 from the free-throw line, and Ava Irvin put in nine points and hauled in five rebounds.

Hebron 68, Athens Academy 38

COMMERCE — Ella Heard and Malia Fisher scored 19 points each in Hebron Christian’s 68-38 win over Athens Academy on Friday in the Region 8-A tournament semifinals.

Heard also had seven assists and hit five 3-pointers. Nicole Azar had 17 points, seven assists and six steals, and Carly Fahey had nine points and four assists for the Lions (27-0).

Hebron will face Lakeview on Saturday for the region championship.

Wesleyan 68, Greenforest 58

ATLANTA — Wesleyan advanced to the Region 5-A Tournament finals with Friday’s 68-58 win over Greenforest.

Alyssa Phillip (17 points, 14 rebounds), Avyonce Carter (17 points, 11 rebounds) and Paige Lyons (16 points, seven assists) led the Wolves, while Lauren Hill had 12 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Lanier 74, Dacula 66

GAINESVILLE — Andrew McConnell scored 22 points to lead Lanier past Dacula 74-66 in the Region 8-AAAAAA tournament semifinals Friday, setting up a championship game matchup against Gainesville.

Iajah Phillips scored 14 points, Sion James had 13 points and Ryan Johnson had 12 points for the Longhorns (21-5).

GAC 61, North Hall 51

GAINESVILLE — Clifton Baskerville scored 22 points to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to a 61-51 victory Friday in the Region 7-AAA tournament semifinals.

Josh Fulton and Saiku White had nine points, and Lamarr Randolph had eight points for the Spartans (20-7).
