PREP ROUNDUP: No. 1 Parkview rallies past No. 8 North Gwinnett in girls soccer showdown

SUWANEE — No. 1 Parkview scored with less than three minutes left in regulation Tuesday night, escaping with a 2-1 victory over No. 8 North Gwinnett in a top-10 girls soccer showdown.

Aliah Kitchens gave North (4-2) a 1-0 lead with a first-half goal. The advantage held until visiting Parkview tied the score with 14 minutes left on Narissa Gaither’s free kick goal.

The game-winner was scored by Kendra Davis, who cleaned up a rebound of Nieva Gaither’s shot on the North net. The Panthers remain unbeaten at 5-0.


Archer 10, Shiloh 0

SNELLVILLE — The Archer Tigers (5-1, 1-0) went on the road and blasted the Shiloh Generals 10-0.

Mill Creek 5, Cambridge 0

ALPHARETTA — Five Mill Creek players scored Tuesday night in a 5-0 road win over Cambridge.

The Hawks’ goal-scorers were Ali Amrozowicz, Kali Zmistowski, Jocelyn Accardy, Savannah Singleton and Sammie Smith.

Alpharetta 2, Wesleyan 1

NORCROSS — The Wesleyan Wolves (1-2) fell at home against Alpharetta. Kaitlyn Bobo scored the lone goal for the Wolves

Peachtree Ridge 1, Brookwood 0

SUWANEE — Daniela Henriquez scored the only goal of the match as the Peachtree Ridge Lions (5-1) defeated the Brookwood Broncos 1-0.

Maddy Bondon had the assist on the goal for the Lions.

Buford 3, Apalachee 1

BUFORD — Buford (4-0-1) defeated Apalachee 3-1 behind goals from Arden Paulino, Ava Sherman and Sydney Borgelt.

The Wolves will be on the road at Pinecrest Academy for their next contest.

GAC 3, Lovett 0

ATLANTA — GAC (4-2) got a pair of goals from Madeline Rash and another goal from Micah Bryant to pick up a comfortable 3-0 victory against the Lions.

Norcross 3, Centennial 0

NORCROSS — Norcross (4-2) picked up a home victory over Centennial thanks to two goals from Katie Chuckran and a third from Claudia Gatti.

Discovery 5, Berkmar 1

LAWRENCEVILLE — The Discovery Titans (1-1 in region) blasted the Berkmar Patriots 5-1 for their first region win of the campaign.

Cianna Burnett led the way with two goals. Kim Guckert, Kim Altamirano, and Arianna Atbncio all scored goals to add on to the blowout win.

Providence Christian 3, ELCA 2

LILBURN — Kate Lee scored a penalty kick to help Providence Christian (3-1) win a close affair against ELCA at home. Abi Lee and Sarah Orji also found the net for Providence Christian.


Alpharetta 3, Wesleyan 2

NORCROSS — Alpharetta edged Wesleyan 3-2 in the second half after the game was tied 0-0 at halftime. Sean Renz and Liam Coxhead both scored for Wesleyan.

North Gwinnett 3, Parkview 0

SUWANEE — Michael Walsh scored two goals and Mateo Mija added a third as North Gwinnett (5-0-1) dispatched Parkview. Ben Brink had the shutout for the Bulldogs.

Brookwood 4, Peachtree Ridge 3

SUWANEE — Two goals from Harbin Ji led Brookwood (2-3) to a road victory at Peachtree Ridge. Semir Kurtalic and Emeka Terry added goals for the Broncos.

Grayson 2, South Gwinnett 0

GRAYSON — Jonathan Sandoval kept a clean sheet in goal for Grayson (1-2, 1-0) as it defeated South Gwinnett. Colby Costa and Adrian Murillo added the goals for the Rams.

Discovery 2, Berkmar 1

LAWRENCEVILLE — Eduardo Varges and Rolen Mung scored for Discovery as it defeated Berkmar (2-3). Lino Gudino scored Berkmar’s goal and was assisted by German Sanchez.

Centennial 2, Norcross 1

NORCROSS — Norcross lost a tight match 2-1 to Centennial on Tuesday. Cristhian Rugamas had the goal for the Blue Devils (1-4-1).

Shiloh 0, Archer 0 (3-2 in penalties)

SNELLVILLE —Shiloh (2-3, 1-0) needed penalties to pick up their first region win of the season at home against Archer.


Meadowcreek 10, Henry County 7

MCDONOUGH — Meadowcreek put up three runs in the seventh to force extra innings and then added three more in the eighth to down Henry County 10-7 Tuesday night on the road.

Howard Rodriguez went 3-for-5, stole two bases and scored two runs, while Juan Reyes went 4-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs. Oliver De La Rose was 3-for-5 with three stolen bases for the Mustangs.

Norcross 3, Roswell 2

NORCROSS — Norcross scored twice in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 3-2 win Tuesday night against Roswell.

Pierce Thomas drove in the game-winning run and finished with two hits. Sam Howard and Christian Harmon also had two hits each, and Harmon was the winning pitcher.

Norcross is 2-3 on the season.

Hebron 3, Pinecrest Academy 1

CUMMING — Hebron Christian defeated Pinecrest Academy 3-1 behind two RBIs from Max Bennett and another RBI hit from Thomas Headley.

Mason Ashby carried the Lions on the mound allowing no runs on just four hits across five innings while striking out seven batters.

North Gwinnett 8, Dacula 2

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett scored early and often against Dacula (2-4) to pick up the 8-2 win Tuesday.

Marcerio Allen had a single, two stolen bases and scored both runs for the Falcons. Blaine Jenkins fell to 1-1 on the season on the mound, only going 3 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.

GAC 3, Chamblee 2

NORCROSS — Bryceton Payne dominated on the mound for Greater Atlanta Christian with 11 strikeouts in seven innings while surrendering only four hits in a 3-2 win against Chamblee on Tuesday night.

Brooks Miller made sure that effort didn’t go to waste with the go-ahead RBI hit in the sixth inning, and Matthew Hayes also went 2-for-3 at the plate for GAC.

Fellowship Christian 5, Wesleyan 2, 9 innings

NORCROSS — Wesleyan (6-1) suffered its first defeat of the season in extra innings after Fellowship Christian scored three runs in the top of the ninth to pull away with the victory.

Jalen Fulwood hit a two-run home run to provide Wesleyan’s offense for the game, and James McCoy was also 2-for-3 with two singles.


Mill Creek 4, Mountain View 1

HOSCHTON — Mill Creek swept the doubles points in a 4-1 win over Mountain View in Region 6-AAAAAAA play on Tuesday.

Chika Nwosu and Catherine Deer earned the No. 1 doubles point, while Allie Vela and Kristen Parks won at No. 2 doubles. The Hawks also won the top two singles lines — Brooke Bolton at No. 1 and Maddie Nannis at No. 2.

Archer 4, Shiloh 1

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer picked up its first region win over Shiloh at Rhodes Jordan Park on Tuesday.

Archer (1-3, 1-0) swept the doubles courts. Josie Lundberg and Elizabeth Moore won on doubles court No. 2 and Maranda Frost and Jaimie Eastwood won on No. 1.

Paige Velconis won on singles court No. 2. Sydnee Jackson rounded out Archer’s winners on court No. 3.

Shiloh’s Sharon Olaleye won on court No. 1 singles.

Brookwood 5, Berkmar 0

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood (2-2, 2-0) swept Berkmar at Brookwood Manor.

Kendall Monroe, Antonela Andelic and Sierra Richwin swept singles courts. Emma Withrow and Maci Davis won on doubles No. 1 and Abby Howell and Nina Tovey won on doubles No. 2.

North Gwinnett 5, Peachtree Ridge 0

SUWANEE — The North Gwinnett Bulldogs (2-2) swept the Lions, with Cassidy Rebol winning on court No. 1 singles. Lyndsay Kahren and Lizzy Hammond also won singles matches.

In doubles, Maya Diaz and Lelle Hammond went to three sets before winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and Lilly Zhang joined Fernanda Rodriguez in a victory to complete the sweep on doubles court No. 2.

Grayson 5, Newton 0

NEWTON — Grayson swept Newton for their first region win of the season. Kallie Quiros won on singles court No. 1 and Julie Mooney won on singles court No. 2.

On singles court No. 3 Carly Johnson won and Richel Asante and Alexia Rivera won in doubles. Bekah Scott and Anna Devore won on doubles court No. 2.

Providence Christian 4, Parkview 1

LILBURN — Providence Christian (6-1) picked up another victory 4-1 over the Parkview Panthers. Sidney Renor won on singles court No. 1, with Maddlyn Ledy taking home the victory on singles court No. 2.

Shina Pendleton won on singles court No. 3, and Providence Christian’s lone doubles victory came from Margret Ann Levy and Lauren Yost.


Mill Creek 5, Mountain View 0

HOSCHTON — Andre Izadi, Manu Pareek and Travis Shields swept the singles matches Tuesday as Mill Creek blanked Mountain View 5-0 in a Region 6-AAAAAAA match.

The doubles points came from Carter Smith and Thomas McCall at No. 1, and Jamey Terry and Brandon Song at No. 2.

Archer 4, Shiloh 1

LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer (1-3, 1-0) won on two of three singles courts and swept doubles with a forfeit to win its first region matchup with Shiloh on Tuesday at Rhodes Jordan Park.

Lance Massey and Joh Murphy won on doubles court No. 1. Aaron Hunt swept two sets on court No. 1 singles. Colin Clary won on No. 2 singles.

Shiloh’s Joshua Douglas picked up the Generals’ lone point.

North Gwinnett 4, Peachtree Ridge 1

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett (3-1) defeated Peachtree Ridge 4-1 behind victories from Matthew Sloan and Josh Kemp in singles. A team of Doowon Kim and Diego Munoz De Cote picked up one doubles victory for the Bulldogs, and the other one came from Frank Vhov and Lucas Mruk.

Cameron Burkes picked up the only victory for the Lions.

GAC 5, Hebron 0

DACULA — Greater Atlanta Christian (2-2) swept Hebron 5-0 to get back to .500 on the season. Jake Robinson got the victory on court No. 1 singles, with Jack Olinger getting the win on court No. 2 singles.

Liam Hosfeld won on court No. 3 singles, and the top doubles pairing was Cole Bryant and Owen Jacobson. Doubles court No. 2 was won by Will Hawkins and Calvin Dong.

Grayson 4, Newton 1

NEWTON — Grayson defeated Newton with Blaine Bogerty winning on singles court No. 1 and Joseph Wynford also won on singles court No. 3. Grayson won both doubles matches — Jake Feinberg and Matthew Quinn, and then Cole Jubrick and Blake Lumpp.

Eric Tivy suffered the only loss for the Rams in a third-set tiebreak, falling 6-7, 6-4, 6-7 (3-6).

Parkview 4, Providence Christian 1

LILBURN — Parkview defeated Providence Christian (2-4) 4-1. Frank Wu picked up the only victory for Providence Christian.


Prince Avenue 154, Wesleyan 168

OCONEE — Wesleyan got an even par score from Will Stakel against Prince Avenue, but that was the Wolves lowest score of the day as they fell to the Wolverines.


Wesleyan 88, Prince Avenue 91

OCONEE — Wesleyan (1-0) narrowly defeated Prince Avenue in an eight-hole match. Jada Richardson was the low shooter for Wesleyan with 40. McKenzie Keeler and Connor Carroll both shot a 44 for the Wolves.


Wesleyan 10, Collins Hill 9

SUWANEE — The Wolves won a thrilling road game at Collins Hill thanks to an overtime goal from Jackson Turner.

Vance Niclaus led Wesleyan in regulation with three goals, and Bennett Harrison added two goals and an assist.

Peachtree Ridge 10, Brookwood 8

SNELLVILLE — Tyler Banfield scored five goals and had one assist to lead Brookwood (0-2), but it wasn’t enough against Peachtree Ridge.

Drake Grades added in a goal and an assist, and Selassie Richardson had two goals and an assist. Patrick Williams and Timothy Mitchell both played in goal for the Broncos.


Johns Creek 23, Buford 7

JOHNS CREEK — Buford (1-3) fell to Johns Creek in a 23-7 loss Tuesday.

Mountain View 13, Decatur 5

LAWRENCEVILLE — Mina Muirhead dominated all night with five goals and two assists, while Lily Clawson added four goals of her own as Mountain View (3-0) defeated Decatur.

Maria Palomba had two goals, two assists, and four draw controls while Reagan Utley had a goal and three assists. Shelby Glasnow had nine saves in goal.

GAC 12, Forsyth Central 7

CUMMING — Lexie Vander Linde scored six goals to lead GAC (2-0) to victory. Bekah Flintner added three goals of her own.
