SUGAR HILL – Ben Saxon singled home pinch runner Anthony Prince in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Lanier baseball team to a 2-1 win over Norcross on Monday.

Jeremy Scott tossed three innings in relief and struck out six to earn the win for the Longhorns (5-8). Andrew Walton had a hit, two walks and an RBI to lead the offense.

BASEBALL

Mill Creek 2, Brookwood 1

SNELLVILLE – Mill Creek and Brookwood locked up in an old fashion pitcher's duel on Monday in its non-region matchup.

The Hawks prevailed 2-1 as Kyle Beaty scattered four hits to get the win for the Hawks (12-1). Alek Boychuk drove in both runs.

Wes Franklin had a pair of hits to lead the Broncos (9-3).

Archer 1, Shiloh 0

LAWRENCEVILLE – Archer and Shiloh also engaged in a duel on the mound as the Tigers overcame the Generals 1-0 in Region 8-AAAAAAA on Monday.

Jake Webb went six innings and fanned seven with teammate Mason Beckman earning the save for Archer (3-7, 1-0). Andrew Dyer's squeeze bunt in the sixth inning accounted for the game's only run.

Brandon Fears was the tough luck losing pitcher for Shiloh (0-6).

North Gwinnett 16, Collins Hill 4 (5 inn.)

SUWANEE – North Gwinnett throttled visiting Collins Hill 16-4 in Region 6-AAAAAAA on Monday.

Michael Massey was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs (8-3, 3-0). Cole Smith led the hit parade with three hits and an RBI. John Anderson and Bubba Luke each collected a pair of hits and drove in two runs.

Mountain View takes a pair

DULUTH – Mountain View defeated host Duluth 16-6 and 5-1 in Region 6-AAAAAAA on Monday.

Jordan Goldsmith was the winning pitcher in the opener, benefiting from an onslaught of runs.

Connor Claymore had three hits and three RBIs, Ryan Westfall also had three hits and Jonathan Acosta provided two hits and two RBIs. Hunter Blackstone had a home run and drove in two runs for the Bears (6-3, 2-0).

Garrett Spikes tossed a complete game in the second contest and struck out 10 Wildcats. Claymore had two more hits while D.J. Mungenast also provided two hits in the win.

Grayson sweeps

LOGANVILLE – Grayson defeated South Gwinnett 12-5 and 7-1 in Region 8-AAAAAAA on Monday.

Bodie Eilertson had three hits while Zach Resh and Justin Bogard each collected two hits in the opener. The win was coach Jed Hixson's 150th in his career.

DeYon Canyon went five innings for the win in the second game. Resh had two hits, including an inside-the-park home run while Gabe Bryant added a hit and scored twice for the Rams (8-4, 2-0).

Peachtree Ridge take two

SUWANEE – Peachtree Ridge defeated Discovery 15-0 in three innings and 15-0 in four innings on Monday. Matthew Goolsby and Baylor Fain picked up the wins on the mound in the first and second games, respectively.

Ryan Sonnier had four hits including three doubles on the night, Seth Bennett had a hit and four RBIs, including his first career home run for the Lions (6-6, 2-0).

North Hall 9, Greater Atlanta Christian 2

GAINESVILLE – North Hall defeated visiting Greater Atlanta Christian 9-2 in Region 7-AAA on Monday.

Graham Stoner went five innings and gave up four hits for the Spartans. ffensively, GAC was led by Zac Mixon and Noah Deas who each recorded 2 hits. GAC is 7-3 overall and 3-1 in region play.

Dacula 6, Providence Christian 5

DACULA – Dacula scored late with a walkoff 6-5 win over Providence Christian on Monday.

Sam Floyd gets the win in relief for the Falcons (5-6). Blaine Jenkins had two hits, including the game winner. Dylan Noce recorded three hits while Glen Brown, Zach Devries, and Daniel Poole contributed offensively.

Crawford Hansard had two hits, scored twice and stole a base to lead the Storm (5-5). Ben Johnson and Anthony Bowen each had two hits and drove in two runs.

Carrollton 6, Hebron Christian 5

CARROLLTON – Carrollton scored two runs with two outs in the seventh to defeat Hebron Christian 6-5 on Monday.

Jaiden Stowers led the offense with three hits and an RBI. Jackson Hackney added two hits and drove in two runs while Jason Lockhart and Jack Ihm each added a hit and drove in a run for the Lions (8-3).

Wesleyan sweeps a pair

PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan defeated Paideia 10-0 and The Weber School 4-0 on Monday.

In the opener, Jalen Fulwood went five innings and allowed one hit while striking out eight to notch the win. Druw Jones contributed three hits, including a grand slam which invoked the run rule in the contest. Cooper Blauser added two hits.

In the nightcap, James McCoy went the distance and allowed two hits while whiffing 11 on the mound. Jones collected two more hits and drove in a run as did Fulwood for Wesleyan (10-0, 2-0).

BOYS TENNIS

Brookwood 3, Norcross 2

SNELLVILLE – Brookwood defeated Norcross 3-2 on Monday. Tawfeeq Mohamed and Kavin Shankar won in singles as did the doubles tandem of Connor Crosby and Caden Martin for the Broncos (5-0, 4-0).

Buford 5, Johnson 0

BUFORD – Buford blanked visiting Johnson 5-0 on Monday. Brady Todd, James Troutt and Leyton Grothe won in singles. Zac Harms and Matthew Maurer along with Grayson Gilbert and Nic Keller won in doubles for the Wolves (4-1, 2-0).

Wesleyan 5, Riverside Military 0

GAINESVILLE – Wesleyan swept host Riverside Military 5-0 on Monday. Jack Jones, Grayson Balloon and Dakota Early won in singles for the Wolves (4-3). Nick Follett and Sam Lambert along with Michael Peel and Jack Thomas won in doubles.

Hebron Christian 5, Athens Christian 0

ATHENS – Hebron Christian shut out host Athens Christian 5-0 on Monday. Seith Blahnik, Garrett Meek and Dylan Montrose took the singles points. Jack Goldschmidt and Porter Josephson along with Grant Miller and Jeff Courtney won in doubles for the Lions (6-0).

GIRLS TENNIS

North Gwinnett 5, Duluth 0

SUWANEE – North Gwinnett shut out visiting Duluth on Monday 5-0. Landsay Kahren, Nicole Eigbedion and Lucy Kim won in singles for the Bulldogs (3-0). Fernanda Rodriguez and Lauren Isaac along with Ginny Anderson and Lizzy Hammond took the doubles points.

Buford 5, Johnson 0

BUFORD – Buford had no trouble with Johnson, dispatching their guests 5-0 on Monday. Alex Mann, Callie Perkins and Kylie McCammon took the singles matches for the Wolves (5-0, 2-0). Sydney Grothe and Izzie Brewer along with Kennedy DeLoach and Taylor Ryczek won in doubles.

Hebron Christian 5, Athens Christian 0

ATHENS – Hebron Christian blanked Athens Christian 5-0 on Monday. Amanda Meyer, Emma Brown and Gabby Rice won in singles. Mary Blake Whittington and Mary Rene Quarles along with Torrey Bailey and Hoake Mazzawi took the double matches for the Lions (6-0).

BOYS GOLF

Wesleyan 188, Paideia 191

TUCKER – Wesleyan defeated Paideia 188-191 in a match played at Heritage Golf Links on Monday. Luke Jackson, Matt Free and Jeff Hullinger tied to lead the Wolves.

BOYS LACROSSE

Parkview 9, Peachtree Ridge 8

LILBURN – Parkview held off Peachtree Ridge 9-8 on Monday. Jack Bunson led the Panthers with five goals and an assist. Ryan Craig scored twice and dished out three assists and Sam Lindsey made nine saves to preserve the win.

Peachtree Ridge got two goals and two assists from Riley Shaw, as well as two goals and an assist from Kitt Pressley. Alex Carman (one goal, one assist), Nathan Landry (one goal, one assist), Jack Bedard (one goal, one assist) and Luke Fitts (one goal, one assist) also contributed for the Lions, while goalie Davis Wheeler made 13 saves.

Dacula 14, Meadowcreek 2

DACULA – Dacula defeated Meadowcreek 14-2 on Monday. Matt Morgenroth had 7 goals and 1 Assist, Alex Crabb had 2 goals and 2 assists, Dylan D’Amato had 2 goals and 2 assists, and John Blair added 2 goals for the Falcons (4-4).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Brookwood 13, Grayson 8

LOGANVILLE — Ellie Rey and Ella Fornek had four goals each Monday in Brookwood’s 13-8 victory over Grayson.

Triniti Cassidy (two goals, one assist), Nia Richardson (one goal), Camille Jennings (one goal, one assist), Danielle LaPlume (one assist) and Madison Catoggio (one assist) also contributed for the Broncos. Goalie Aja Thomas made 16 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

Peachtree Ridge 2, Brookwood 0

SNELLVILLE – Peachtree Ridge went to Brookwood and blanked their hosts 2-0 on Monday. Daniel Romero scored on a header and Stephane Shongo converted a penalty kick for the Lions (8-1) goals. David Aguilar recorded the clean sheet in goal.

GIRLS SOCCER

Brookwood 3, Peachtree Ridge 0

SNELLVILLE – Brookwood goalies Sara Studebaker and Lauren Swoopes combined to shut out Peachtree Ridge 3-0 on Monday. Stella Allen, Mikala Ross and Sydney Farr scored goals for the Broncos (3-3).
