ATLANTA – Buford overcame an 18-point, first-half deficit to defeat host Holy Innocents' 47-44 Tuesday in a battle of traditional girls basketball powers.
The Wolves (9-0) didn't take their first lead until late in the fourth quarter as the reigning Class AAAAA state champions methodically dug themselves out of their early hole.
Tate Walters led Buford with 13 points while Tatum Ozment and Katelyn Klein each added nine points against the defending Class A private state champions.
Mill Creek 47, Mountain View 20
LAWRENCEVILLE – Mill Creek notched its first win in Region 6-AAAAAAA on Tuesday, a 47-20 triumph over host Mountain View.
Alexis Figures led the Hawks (3-6, 1-2) with 17 points while Ellie McIntyre added nine. Mima Hrnjak and Olivia Wright each pulled down eight rebounds.
Archer 58, Shiloh 50
SNELLVILLE – Archer defeated host Shiloh 58-50 in Region 8-AAAAAAA on Tuesday.
Cazia Nelson led the Tigers (7-2, 1-0) with 19 points. Taniya McGowan added 17 points and 10 rebounds, Maya Jackson contributed nine points and 12 boards while Ashanti Bryant scored nine.
Brookwood 71, Central Gwinnett 43
SNELLVILLE – Brookwood remained undefeated in Region 7-AAAAAAA with a 71-43 win over Central Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Diana Collins led the Broncos (5-4, 4-0) with 22 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Tori Delk contributed 18 points and nine boards while Shannon Niles added 10 points.
Parkview 67, Berkmar 22
LILBURN – Parkview dispatched host Berkmar 67-22 in a Region 7-AAAAAAA game on Tuesday.
Jalyn Bell led the Panthers (6-5, 4-0) with 24 points and six steals. Damaris Gaines added 16 points while Maria Toledano pulled down 12 rebounds.
Grayson 66, Newton 56
COVINGTON – Grayson defeated host Newton 66-56 in Region 8-AAAAAAA on Tuesday.
Malia Grace paced the Rams (5-3, 1-0) with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Catherine Alben added 19 points, six assists and 11 steals while Nyelle Lee added eight points in the win.
Collins Hill 68, Peachtree Ridge 46
SUWANEE — Sacha Washington led all scorers with 27 points, and Collins Hill rolled to a 68-46 win over Peachtree Ridge on Tuesday.
The Eagles also got 11 points from Eden Sample, 11 points from Asjah Inniss 11 and 10 points from Kamryn Collins.
Greater Atlanta Christian 73, North Hall 66
GAINESVILLE – Greater Atlanta Christian pulled away late to secure a 73-66 Region 7-AAA win over North Hall on Tuesday.
The Spartans (4-7, 2-0) were led by Kaleigh Addie's 27 points. Laurren Randolph scored 13, Jaci Bolden added 12 while Molly Pritchard notched 10.
Providence Christian 37, Athens Christian 32
ATHENS – Maymie DeMayo's 14 points lifted Providence Christian to a 37-32 win over Athens Christian on Tuesday. Sydney Flood tallied 10 points, nine of which came via three 3-pointers for the Storm (3-7).
Shiloh 65, Archer 60
SNELLVILLE – Shiloh overcame a halftime deficit to remain undefeated as the Generals turned back Archer 65-60 on Tuesday.
Anthony Canada scored 18 points to lead Shiloh (10-0, 2-0). James Little added 14 points and pulled down six rebounds, Zawdie Jackson notched 13 points while Caleb Golden scored 12 and had six rebounds as the Generals trailed 35-31 after two quarters.
Archer was led by Areyon Johnson's 19 and C.J. Hines scored 15.
Berkmar 67, Parkview 26
LILBURN – Berkmar thumped visiting Parkview 67-26 in Region 7-AAAAAAA on Tuesday. Elijah Wood and Duke Clayton each scored 13 while Jalen DeLoach tallied 10 for the Patriots (3-8, 3-1).
North Gwinnett 64, Duluth 50
SUWANEE – North Gwinnett evened up its Region 6-AAAAAAA record with a 64-50 win over visiting Duluth on Tuesday.
Jared Ivey led the Bulldogs with 15 points, seven rebounds and seven blocks. Kobe Jackson added 15 points and eight rebounds, Brendan Rigsbee scored 13 points while J.R. Martin notched 11 points for North (2-5, 1-1).
Mill Creek 62, Mountain View 56
LAWRENCEVILLE – Mill Creek had four players score in double figures as the Hawks defeated host Mountain View 62-56 on Tuesday.
David Lewis led the quartet with 16 points. Alex Garrison and Zion Wimby each added 12 while Justin Birch scored 10 for Mill Creek (4-6, 1-2).
Noah Scales scored 11 for Mountain View (3-7).
Brookwood 75, Central Gwinnett 65
SNELLVILLE – Brookwood bested Central Gwinnett 75-65 in a Region 7-AAAAAAA tilt on Tuesday.
Kye Gibson's 20 points led the Broncos (5-4, 2-2). Aidan Real and Varun Danak each scored 16 while Chris Cole chipped in with 12.
Discovery 76, Alcovy 68
LAWRENCEVILLE – Discovery held off Alcovy 76-68 on Tuesday. London Riley led the Titans (6-5) with 21 points. Charles Blamo and Ian Davis each scored 10.
Collins Hill 79, Peachtree Ridge 71
SUWANEE — Collins Hill defeated Peachtree Ridge 79-71 in Region 6-AAAAAAA play Tuesday night.
Jabiri Smith led the Eagles (5-3, 2-0) with 20 points. Vino Glover scored 15, Donovan Morris had 13 points and Travis Hunter added 12 points.
Greater Atlanta Christian 45, North Hall 34
GAINESVILLE – Greater Atlanta Christian defeated North Hall 45-34 in a Region 7-AAA contest on Tuesday. Cliff Baskerville scored 19 and Lamar Randolph added 16 for the Spartans (5-3, 1-1).
Hebron Christian 93, Pinecrest Academy 91 (3OT)
DACULA – In a marathon contest, Hebron Christian outlasted visiting Pinecrest Academy 93-91 in three overtimes on Tuesday.
Regulation saw the game tied at 63. At the end of the first overtime, the score was knotted at 71. A Scott Gabel 3-pointer at the buzzer for Hebron tied the score at 80 before the Lions (4-4) were able to pull out the win.
Sam Hutto led Hebron with 39 points, 34 of which came after the first half. Gabel finished with 19, Mason Massengale added 18 while Zach Calvert chipped in with 10.
Providence Christian 60, Athens Christian 53
ATHENS – Providence Christian improved to 10-0 with a 60-53 win over Athens Christian on Tuesday.
Davis McCarn led the Storm with 32 points, 24 of which came on eight 3-pointers. Elijah Williams added 21 points and 15 rebounds while Cayden Johnson dished out eight assists.
Drew Charter 62, Wesleyan 55
PEACHTREE CORNERS – Drew Charter held off Wesleyan 62-55 in a non-region matchup on Tuesday. Tate Gilley scored 16 to lead the Wolves (3-1) while Jalen Fulwood and Druw Jones each recorded 11 points.
