DACULA — Dacula improved to 2-1 on the season by holding on to a 6-5 win at home over Mountain View on Thursday.
Dacula built a 6-2 before Mountain View scored three in the sixth to pull within one. In the seventh, Mountain View threatened with runners at second and third, but the rally was snuffed when pitcher Sydney Boulware ended the game with a strikeout.
Boulware went all seven innings, finishing with 10 strikeouts. Elizabeth Soto drove in two runs for the Falcons, while Emily Digby added two hits.
Mountain View (0-1) was led by Kaylee George, who had two hits, including a double and three RBIs and Hannan Razeq with two hits, a double and two RBIs. Kellie Ervin also had two hits and Chloe Shrope scored three runs. Lexie Simonton helped the Bears get back in the game with 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Archer 6, Madison Co. 1
DANIELSVILLE — Kailyn James pitched a complete game on Thursday to lead Archer to a 6-1 win in the season opener for the Tigers. James finished the night scattering eight hits and surrendering one unearned run.
Jordyn Sanders led the offense for Archer (1-0), going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and an RBI, while Mackenzie Martin finished 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
South splits doubleheader
ATLANTA — South Gwinnett split a doubleheader on Thursday at Galloway, beating Galloway 12-11 and falling 16-1 to Duluth.
In the win against Galloway, April Foster recorded four hits and an RBI, while Malia Lawson added three hits. Also helping at the plate were Seanie Bell (hit, RBI), Ari Reed (two hits, two RBIs) and Briana Cox (two hits, RBI, two runs). Winning pitcher was Lauren Perkins.
Perkins would take the loss in the nightcap as South (2-1) fell to Duluth 16-1. Lexi Sepuleda was the offensive standout with two hits and an RBI.
South Forsyth 6, Peachtree Ridge 0
SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge lost 6-0 Thursday to South Forsyth in the Rumble at the Ridge Tournament.
Alex Harris (0-1) took the loss, allowing six earned runs on eight hits in five innings. She struck out four.
Madison Strange (2-for-2) led the offense, while Jayla Jarrell, Harris and Juhles Kelly each added a hit.
Forsyth Central 3, Buford 2
BUFORD — Forsyth Central edged Buford 3-2 on Thursday night in the Rumble at the Ridge tournament.
Kara Taylor had a double and an RBI for Buford, while Taylor Malvin finished 1-for-3 with an RBI. Anabel Adams also went 2-for-3 with a run.
Riley Reese took the loss, giving up a pair of unearned runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
Wesleyan opens season with two wins
PEACHTREE CORNERS — Wesleyan served up two wins to start its season on Thursday, beating Parkview 25-13, 21-25, 15-13 and Mountain View 25-11, 25-15.
Riley Bryan paced the offense for the Wolves (2-0) with 41 assists and five aces, while Meredith Mangum led the defense with 22 digs. Aled Pridgen and Grace Carroll led the team in kill with 11 each.
Parkview (3-1) ended its night with a split by sweeping Mountain View 25-17, 25-16. The offense was led by 20 kills from Jordan Godfree and 24 assists from Sarah Ramsey, while Meg Youngblood and Mackenzie Branson led the defense.
Archer splits pair
LAWRENCEVILLE — Archer split two matches in a play day at home on Thursday, beating Discovery 25-4, 25-17 and falling to Peachtree Ridge 25-23, 25-11.
Leading the way for the Tigers (2-2) was Elizabeth Parker with eight aces, J’ernai Argilagos with 17 assists, four kills, four aces, three digs and a block and Kyla Ffrench with 10 kills, a block, three aces and two digs.
