PREP ROUNDUP: Buford girls nip GAC in overtime of lacrosse match

BUFORD — Buford’s Jordan Garrison scored in overtime to lift the Wolves to an 11-10 lacrosse win over Greater Atlanta Christian on Thursday.

Garrison’s goal was one of three she scored on the night. Skyler Thomas also scored three goals, while Courtney Martin and Jordyn Olivo tallied twice for Buford (4-1, 3-0).

Sarah Kester scored four goals to lead the Spartans (5-1, 1-1).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Wesleyan 21, St. Pius 5

ATLANTA — Wesleyan had little trouble defeating St. Pius 21-5 on Thursday. Whitaker Welch led the Wolves (5-4) with six goals. Emma-Kate Means scored thee goals, while Emma Nydam made seven saves.

BOYS LACROSSE

GAC 9, Wesleyan 5

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Greater Atlanta Christian defeated Wesleyan 9-5 on Thursday. Mason Rush scored three goals to lead the Spartans (4-4, 3-0). Michael Malone scored twice, freshman Will Gary scored an goal and added an assist, while Chandler Dula did a good job on defense for GAC.

Archer 16, Lanier 12

SUGAR HILL — Sam Lester scored four goals and assisted on seven others to help Archer defeat Lanier 16-12 on Thursday. Wyatt Maddox poured in six goals and added two assists for the Tigers (3-5).

SUWANEE — Peachtree Ridge’s Thomas LeMaster tossed a complete game shutout to help the Lions defeat Collins Hill 2-0 on Thursday. LeMaster allowed just four hits as Peachtree Ridge improved to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in Region 6-AAAAAAA.

Brookwood 20, Central 0

SNELLVILLE — Brookwood defeated Central Gwinnett 20-0 in three innings Thursday. Wes Franklin had two hits and four RBIs while Will Mize had two hits and three RBIs to make a winner of Blake Jennings on the mound for the Broncos (9-5, 2-0).

Wesleyan 7, Holy Innocents’ 3

PEACHTREE CORNERS — Wesleyan downed Holy Innocents’ 7-3 on Thursday. Jalen Fulwood hit a three-run home run to secure the victory for the Wolves (10-4, 4-0) and himself on the mound. Fulwood tossed three innings of hitless relief while striking out four to earn the win. Cooper Blauser had two hits and three RBIs, while Joe Chatham also had two hits in the win.

CUMMING — Wesleyan defeated host Pinecrest Academy 2-1 on Thursday. Isabelle Moratti and Kaitlyn Bobo scored goals for the Wolves (4-3-1, 2-0).

CUMMING — Pinecrest scored a second half goal to break a 1-1 tie and defeat the Wolves (5-4, 2-1) 2-1 on Thursday. Liam Coxhead scored in the first half to tie the game at 1-1.

SUWANEE — North Gwinnett swept Mountain View 5-0 on Thursday. Cassidy Rebol, Lindsay Kahren and Fernanda Rodriquez won in singles. Elle Hammond and Lizzy Hammond along with Lily Zhang and Maya Diaz took the doubles points for the Bulldogs (8-2).

Grayson 5, Newton 0

COVINGTON — Grayson swept Newton 5-0 on Thursday. Kallie Quiros, Julie Mooney and Mary Cheriyampurathu won in singles. Carly Johnson and Ibukun Olagbegi along with Bekah Scott and Abbie Blair won in doubles for the Rams (7-1).

Providence 3, Wesleyan 2

LILBURN — Providence Christian held off Wesleyan 3-2 on Thursday. Sydney Hrehor, Madelyn Levy and Sheina Pendleton won in singles for the Storm (9-1, 1-0).

Haden Jones and Grace Tyler along with Kate Lalley and Carson Schiller won the doubles points for the Wolves.

COVINGTON — Grayson downed Newton 5-0 on Thursday. Blaine Fogarty, Blake Lumpp and Joseph Cheriyampurathu won in singles. Eric Tivy and Chandler Thomas along with Matthew Quinn and Jake Feinberg won in doubles for the Rams (8-0).

Wesleyan 4, Providence 1

LILBURN — Wesleyan defeated Providence Christian 4-1 on Thursday. Luke Schiller and Dakota Early won in singles for the Wolves (6-2). Harrison Leath and Sam Lambert along with Michael Peel and David Anderson won in doubles.

Frank Wu took a singles match for the Storm (5-5).

Wesleyan 149, Decatur 188

TUCKER — Wesleyan defeated Decatur 149-188 at Heritage Golf Links on Thursday. Luke Jackson led the Wolves with a 35, which included three birdies and an eagle.

STONE MOUNTAIN — Providence Christian defeated Lakeview Academy 191-199 in a match played at Smoke Rise Country Club on Thursday. Noah Willoughby led the Storm with a 43.
