Buford’s Calvin Blow commits to Newberry lacrosse

BUFORD — Buford's girls basketball team defeated North Forsyth 64-53 on Saturday at the North Georgia Showcase at Buford Arena.

The three-time defending Class AAAAA state champions were able to pull away from the Raiders, a Final Four team in AAAAAAA last season.

Buford moved out to a 14-8 lead after the first quarter and opened up a 27-15 halftime lead. North Forsyth was never able to cut the Buford (1-0) lead below 10 in the second half. Tatum Ozment had 12 points to lead a quartet of Wolves who scored in double figures. Blair Wallis had 11 while Ashyia Willis and Tate Walters each tallied 10.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Campbell 63, GAC 49

STONE MOUNTAIN — Greater Atlanta Christian girls’ lost 63-49 to Campbell in Saturday’s Battle on the Mountain at Stephenson.

Kaleigh Addie led the Spartans with 16 points, Jaci Bolden scored 12 and Ava Irvin had 11 points and seven rebounds. Lauren Randolph contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Mill Creek 67, Franklin County 58

BUFORD — Zion Wimby scored 25 points and Mill Creek opened its season with a 67-58 victory over Franklin County.

The Hawks also got 20 points from Jack Kostel.
