NORCROSS – Greater Atlanta Christian baseball's Bryceton Payne threw a no-hitter as the Spartans defeated Dawson County 9-0 on Wednesday. Payne walked five and struck out eight as GAC improved to 14-10-1 overall and 10-7 in Region 8-AAA.
Harrison Stogner led the offense with two hits and four RBIs. Colin Helms added three hits and drove in a pair of runs, Shane Lussier had two hits while Jackson Willyerd contributed a double and scored a run.
Collins Hill 7, Mountain View 6
SUWANEE – Collins Hill rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Mountain View 7-6 in Region 6-AAAAAAA on Wednesday. Nasim Nunez drew a bases loaded walk to tie the game and Travis Burnette singled home Josh Merritt with the winning run.
With the scored tied at 2 in the top of the fifth, the Bears put three runs up to take a 5-2 lead. Collins Hill (17-11, 8-9) re-tied the game in the bottom of the fifth before Mountain View scored a single run in the sixth to set up the dramatic finish.
Johnny Blake had two hits and two RBIs, Kodai Takano drove in a pair of runs and Miles Wilkins went the distance to earn the win on the mound for the Eagles.
Grayson 12, Archer 2 (5 innings)
LOGANVILLE – Grayson clinched the regular season Region 8-AAAAAAA title with a 12-2 win over Archer on Wednesday. Bradley Blalock went all five innings and struck out eight to earn the win and helped his own cause by hitting a two-run home run.
Ben Scartz had three hits and scored three runs, Jeremiah Smith also had three hits and drove in a run, Henry Hunter and John Anderson each had a pair of runs driven in for the Rams (21-7, 14-0).
South Gwinnett 15, Newton 3
COVINGTON – South Gwinnett defeated host Newton 15-3 on Wednesday. Alex Rodger had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Comets (12-11, 8-6). Corey Lee had three hits while JaQuavius Graham drove in three runs. Andrew Lewis was the winning pitcher and helped himself by driving in a pair of runs. Cole Thompkins also drove in two runs in the victory.
Norcross 7, Lakeside-DeKalb 5
ATLANTA – Norcross defeated Lakeside-DeKalb 7-5 in Region 7-AAAAAAA on Wednesday. Danel Haab, Nolan Scourtis, Pierce Thomas and Garry Murray each had two hits for the Blue Devils (17-12, 7-4). Scourtis also drove in a pair of runs to help Anthony Bonacci earn the win on the mound for Norcross.
North wins a pair
SUWANEE – North Gwinnett defeated Duluth 7-2 and 17-0 in four innings in region 6-AAAAAAA. Brian Leimkuehler and Josh Shuler each hit three-run home runs in the contest.
Corey Collins Led the Bulldogs in the second game of the series with two home runs and six RBIs. Parker Waggoner had three hits and drove in a run, Leimkuehler added a pair of hits and five RBIs while Michale Borah contribured three hits to make a winner of Brandt Pancer on the mound for North (24-5, 15-2).
Habersham 3, Lanier 0
MOUNT AIRY — Lanier lost a Region 8-AAAAAA game at Habersham on Wednesday despite a solid pitching performance from Zachary Murray.
Murray went six innings and allowed two earned runs on five hits. He struck out six.
Lanier (10-17, 5-9) was led offensively by Bryce Bulls (2-for-3), Jadyn Jackson (2-for-4), Andrew Walton (1-for-1, walk, sacrifice) and Dre Styles (1-for-1 on pinch hit appearance).
Buford 15, Johnson 0 (3 innings)
GAINESVILLE – Buford needed only three innings to defeat Johnson 15-0 on Wednesday. Austin Turner had two hits, including a two-run home run. Evan Place added three hits and drove in two runs, Bryce Morin recorded two hits and two RBIs while Max Ramirez had a hit and drove in a pair. Dylan Lesko went all three innings and struck out seven to earn the win for the Wolves (18-8).
Apalachee 7, Dacula 6
DACULA – Apalachee squeaked by Dacula 7-6 on Wednesday. Jojo Lopez led the Falcons (12-15, 7-7) with two hits while teammate Jackson Smith added a hit and an RBI.
Wesleyan 14, Mount Vernon 4 (5 innings)
PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan defeated Mount Vernon 14-4 in five innings to conclude its regular season on Wednesday. Cameron Binney led the Wolves (22-5) with two hits and three RBIs. Druw Jones added two hits and two RBIs, Jalen Fulwood had a two-run double while J.C. French added a pinch hit, two-run home run. John Smith was the winning pitcher.
Mill Creek 13, Centennial 12 (OT)
ROSWELL – Mill Creek's Sara Grieco scored in overtime to lift Mill Creek to a 13-12 win over Centennial on Wednesday. Grieco scored six goals and dished out three assists to lead the Hawks (9-5-1).
Lyndsey Lewis contributed two goals, two assists and five draw controls, Lauren Dobbs scored twice while goalie Juliana Pleck made 13 saves.
Brookwood 17, Lanier 3
SNELLVILLE – Brookwood defeated Lanier 17-3 to improve to 4-9 on the season. Ellie Rey led the Broncos with six goals. Madison Jennings, Danielle LaPlume, Ella Fornek and Haeun Jin each scored twice.
Greater Atlanta Christian 19, Pinecrest Academy 3
NORCROSS – Greater Atlanta Christian overwhelmed Pinecrest Academy 19-3 on Wednesday. Lexie Vander Linde scored eight goals and Mary Caroline Morris tallied three times for the Spartans (7-5, 2-3).
Buford 15, Riverside Military 2
GAINESVILLE – Buford handled Riverside Military Academy 15-2 on Wednesday. Mikey Canavan scored two goals and dished out two assists to lead the Wolves (12-4, 5-0). Tommy Edwards, Danny Reymond, Conner Galbraith and Max Whalen also scored two goals apiece in the win.
North Gwinnett 11, Mill Creek 10
HOSCHTON — Mill Creek lost to former area rival North Gwinnett on Wednesday night.
North Gwinnett's Riley Walker scored three goals. Jordan Young scored two goals for the Bulldogs..
Willie Grieco led the scoring effort for Mill Creek with four goals. Sean Proctor had three goals and one assist. Wyatt Peek had one goal and four assists. Will Duffy and Nick Calabrese each had one goal.
Hebron Christian 169, Madison County 184
DACULA – Hebron Christian defeated Madison County 169-184 in a match played at Hamilton Mill Country Club on Wednesday. Jake Brown shot a 37 and Kenny Duffin recorded a 39 for the Lions.

LAWRENCEVILLE – Archer defeated Dacula 2-1 on Wednesday. Cassie Wallace and Bailey Francis scored goals for the Tigers (14-3, 8-2). Aliyah Taylor and Cambry Holland registered assists in the win.

BUFORD – Buford defeated Clarkston 3-0 in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tennis playoffs on Wednesday. Kyle Ryczek and Todd Goehmann won in doubles while Luke Davidson and Brady Todd won in singles for the Wolves (16-4) who will face Riverwood in the second round.

BUFORD – Buford defeated Miller Grove 4-0 in the first round of the Class AAAAA state tennis playoffs on Wednesday. The doubles tandems of Sydney Grother and Izzy Brewer along with Taylor Ryczek and Kennedy Deloach won. Callie Perkins and Alex Mann won in singles for the Wolves (14-6) who will face Carrollton in the second round.
