LOGANVILLE – Buford's softball team downed host Walnut Grove 8-1 on Thursday to win the Region 8-AAAAA Tournament as Ansleigh Hollifield was a one-person wrecking crew for the Wolves, who captured their 11th region title.

Hollifield tossed a complete game in the circle, allowing just three hits and whiffing nine. At the plate, the senior had three doubles and drove in seven of the eight Buford runs. Shamaya Young added three hits and scored twice while Abbi Perkins contributed a pair of hits and also scored twice in the win.


Hebron finishes second

NICHOLSON – Hebron Christian fell just short as the Lions advanced to but fell in the Region 8-A finals at East Jackson Park on Tuesday. The Lions defeated Prince Avenue 6-3 but succumbed to Commerce 5-1.

In the semifinal win, Olivia Brewer led Hebron with two hits and two RBIs. Nicole Azar and Carly Fahey each added two hits to make a winner of Layton Morris in the circle.

In the region final, Jessie Parrish had a hit and score a run while Azar also had a hit that drove in Parrish. The Lions are now 15-10 on the season.

Norcross 4, Brookwood 3

NORCROSS – Norcross' Ann-Margaret Jones singled home Lea Smith with a walk off run as the Blue Devils defeated Brookwood 4-3 in Region 7-AAAAAAA on Thursday. The win clinches second place in the Region for Norcross (15-11, 6-3).

After scoring two runs in the sixth on a hit by Serenity Starr, Smith led off the bottom of the seventh with a walk before eventually being plated by Jones. Bella Krauth tossed a complete game in the circle allowing two earned runs.

North Gwinnett 12, Mountain View 7

SUWANEE – North Gwinnett finished perfect in Region 6-AAAAAAA with a 12-7 win over Mountain View on Thursday.

The Bulldogs are now 25-1 and 15-0 in the region. Meaghan Lewis had three hits and stole three bases to lead the offense. Marisa Miller had two hits and four RBIs, Morgan Frye hit a two-run home run and Caroline Shumeyko contributed two hits and drove in a pair of runs.

Jaylyn Benson was the winning pitcher, tossing three innings. Simone Leonard had two hits and and RBI while Grace Connelly also added two hits in the winning effort.

Ahmari Braden connected on a grand slam for Mountain View (17-9, 10-5). Kellie Ervin contributed three hits while Lexie Simonton and Brooke Finley each recorded two hits for the Bears.

Parkview 19, Berkmar 1

LILBURN – Parkview wrapped up the Region 7-AAAAAAA title with a 19-1 win over host Berkmar on Thursday. The Panthers (16-10, 7-2) will host Forsyth Central in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA tournament next Tuesday.

Peachtree Ridge 4, Collins Hill 0

SUWANEE – Peachtree Ridge blanked visiting Collins Hill 4-0 in Region 6-AAAAAAA on Thursday. Elle Lunsford tossed the complete game shutout in the circle, striking out five. Kennedy Harp led the Lions (11-14, 5-10) with two hits and an RBI while Alex Harris also added a hit and drove in a run.

Providence Christian 18, Discovery 2

LILBURN – Providence Christian downed visiting Discovery 18-2 on Thursday.

Sydney Flood led the Storm (2-24) with three hits, including a home run, and seven RBIs. Claire Owens had two hits and drove in three while Paige Thompson recorded two hits and two RBIs. Maymie de Mayo was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits and one earned run.

Harleen Walia had a hit, Heidi Loa added a hit and scored a run while Emily Wright recorded a hit and an RBI for the Titans (8-10).


Brookwood advances

NORCROSS – Brookwood opened the Region 7-AAAAAAA tournament with a 25-6, 25-4 and 25-5 win over Central Gwinnett on Thursday. Abbey Tucker led the Broncos with nine aces and 23 assists. Zoie Foster added five kills, Sophia Koop contributed five aces while Cydney Gardner provided 14 kills for Brookwood (27-15).

Parkview moves on

NORCROSS – Parkview defeated Berkmar 25-5, 25-13 and 25-11 in the Region 7-AAAAAAA tournament on Thursday. The Panthers (28-14) utilized 27 team aces and 23 team kills to advance. Sarah Ramsey dished out 12 assists, Zoie Penix added six assists while Sophi Song provided six digs.

Mill Creek sweeps

HOSCHTON – Mill Creek defeated Lakeview 25-8, 25-12 and Winder-Barrow 25-18, 25-12 on Thursday. Adriana Ackerman led the Hawks (36-7) with eight aces and 38 assists. Mar'ria Phillips recorded 13 kills while Aiyana Bermudez contributed 12 kills on the night.

GAC wins

LILBURN – Greater Atlanta Christian defeated host Providence Christian 25-23, 25-18 and 25-21 on Thursday. Lexy Taylor paced the Spartans with eight aces and 11 digs. Ali Schrieber provided 12 kills for the Spartans (23-12).

Lauren Yost had three aces and broke the career ace record for the Storm by surpassing 239 in her career. Alaina Emminger added 14 kills for Providence (27-16).

Hebron splits

DACULA – Hebron Christian defeated Westminster 20-25, 25-23, 15-9 but fell to Marist 14-25, 25-21, 11-15 on Thursday. Abbi Luke dished out 49 assists to lead the Lions (37-7). Hayden McGee contributed 26 kills while Rebeca Olariu and Malia Fisher each recorded 11 kills on the night.

Wesleyan splits

PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan defeated Woodward Academy 25-19, 27-25 but fell to Pace Academy 18-25, 22-25 on Thursday. Meredith Mangum led the Wolves (27-14) with 31 digs while Riley Bryan dished out 41 assists. Alden Pridgen, Grace Carroll and Jayla Jones had 12, 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
