Friday’s game is a special one for Godfree, who was Loganville’s head coach from 2004-13. It is his first time returning to coach against the Red Devils.

Smith is the third head coach at Loganville since Godfree left to take the job at Parkview, his alma mater.

“Personally, I'm looking forward to being back in Loganville as I have so many lifelong friendships and memories in Loganville,” Godfree said. “As a team, we are looking forward to taking a step forward in getting ready for region play. We want to be able to handle toughness and adversity with great maturity and we have done that this week, learning and improving every day. It will be awkward for me standing on the visitors side of Red Devil Stadium, but I'm excited to see the truly great people of Loganville and our teams execute the hard work our boys continue to put in.”

The Panthers lost last week’s showdown of 2019 state semifinalists with North Gwinnett. North’s stellar defense held them in check for the most part outside of 21 carries for 116 yards from Tennessee-bound running back Cody Brown.

Meanwhile, the Parkview defense kept the game close behind 6 1/2 tackles (one for loss) and a sack from Quincy Bryant.

When: Friday, 7:30 p.m.
