Parkview baseball coach (right, with Panthers first baseman Stephen Hrustich) was named High School Division I National Coach of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association last week after guiding the Panthers to their second straight Class AAAAAAA state championship, and eighth state title overall, earlier this spring. Brown was also the ABCA's Coach of the Year in 2015.

Parkview head baseball coach Chan Brown as named American Baseball Coaches Association/Diamond High School Division I National Coach of the Year, the organization announced late last week.

Brown was one of 11 coaches honored in their respective high school, junior college or college categories after guiding the Panthers to a 36-4 record, a top-10 national ranking by MaxPreps, the National High School Baseball Coaches Association and Perfect Game and their second straight Class AAAAAAA state championship, and eighth overall.

This season marks the second year Brown has been named the his category’s national Coach of the Year after also earning the honor following the 2015 campaign, when the Panthers won the Class AAAAAA title.

Brown and the other honorees will be honored and recognized Jan. 3 during the 76th annual ABCA Convention in Nashville, Tenn.
