LOGANVILLE — North Gwinnett rallied to force overtime Saturday, and pulled out a 59-56 win over Eagle’s Landing, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAA, in the Grayson New Year’s Classic.
The Bulldogs (13-3), ranked sixth in AAAAAAA, were led by 18 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots from R.J. Godfrey and 18 points from Dylan Gary. Thomas Allard contributed 11 points and five assists, and Duke Clayton had 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Allard hit three free throws with less than a second remaining to force overtime, where Godfrey scored seven of his points to key the victory.
Eagle’s Landing, the defending AAAAA state champion, falls to 13-3.
