SUWANEE – North Gwinnett, with one loss on its resumé the entire softball season, was bounced from the Class AAAAAAA state softball tournament on Wednesday by visiting Etowah.

The Eagles (21-8) hit solo home runs in the sixth and seventh innings of Game 1 to win by a 2-0 score in the second-round matchup.

In the shocking clincher, Etowah trailed 2-0 before putting up four runs in the third and four more in the fifth — it then held on for an 8-4 win.

North Gwinnett ends its season at 27-3.
