SUWANEE — North Gwinnett's football team ended its two-year losing streak to Walton in impressive fashion Friday night.
The Bulldogs' defense dominated throughout, and Devin Crosby led a big night on the ground in a 35-0 victory over the visiting Raiders. Walton (2-2) had defeated North (3-1) by a field goal each of the previous two seasons.
This one wasn't nearly that close, even with North facing a short week. The Bulldogs defeated Norcross 51-21 on Monday in a game that was delayed from the previous Friday by bad weather.
North scored twice in the first quarter on touchdown runs from Barrett Carter and Devin Crosby for a quick 14-0 lead. Crosby's 64-yard TD run highlighted a game when he rushed 15 times for 166 yards and two scores.
Crosby added an 8-yard TD run in the second quarter for a 21-0 halftime edge. The running back also caught three passes for 30 yards.
Quarterback J.R. Martin rushed for 65 yards, but his passing put the game out of reach in the third quarter. He hit Josh Downs for TDs of 18 and 11 yards for a 35-0 edge. Martin was 11 of 15 passing for 108 yards and the two TDs to Downs, who had eight catches for 78 yards.
Kicker Andrew Lim was 5-for-5 on PATs.
North plays at Discovery next Friday in the Region 6-AAAAAAA opener.
