The Norcross girls locker room recently got an upgrade in time new head basketball coach Ashley Clanton’s first season.
The school partnered with Atlanta-based Elite Carpet and Matting on the project after the community raised the renovation funds.
“I felt an updated locker room could set the tone for the type of culture we want to instill within our program,” Clanton said. “We aimed to create a professional space that was clean, crisp and suited our team’s needs.”
One of the goals also was to maintain ties to the Blue Devils’ successful past under previous head coach Angie Hembree. To accomplish that, a round mat was incorporated on the floor with the school’s previous locker room logo by Elite Carpet and Matting.
“I believe tradition is extremely important and we want to make sure we pay tribute to those that came before us,” said Clanton, a successful coach in Illinois before being hired by Norcross earlier this year. “(The logo mat) was a small way we were able to do that.”
