DACULA — Mill Creek’s girls basketball team nearly overcame a one-point first quarter Monday before eventually falling 50-44 to Griffin in the Dacula Tipoff Classic.

The Hawks (1-4) trailed 6-1 after the first quarter, but battle back to lead in the second quarter. They fell behind 16-14 at halftime.

The teams traded leads throughout the second half — Mill Creek had its last advantage with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter.

Alexis Figures led the Hawks with 15 points. Ellie McIntyre and Bree Orellana had eight points each.
