LILBURN — Malik Thompson and Eric Pullum Jr. broke meet records in frigid temperatures Friday night, leading Parkview’s boys track and field team to first in the seven-team Need For Speed XI meet.
The Panthers finished with 192.5 points, well ahead of runner-up Lambert’s 145. The Lambert girls took first at 158 to runner-up Parkview’s 122.
Thompson won three events, including a meet-record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.66 seconds. He also won the long jump at 20 feet, 10 1/2 inches and the triple jump at 44-8.
Pullum won the 300 in a meet-record time of 35.82, and Muhammad Jackson gave the Panthers wins in the 60 (7.32) and 100 (11.51). Parkview’s Bryce Fleetwood (high jump, 6-4) and Cody Brown (shot put, 44-5) won field events.
Other Gwinnett boys who won events were Peachtree Ridge’s Tyre Tatum (200, 23.04) and Greater Atlanta Christian’s Myles Hinton (discus, 143-5).
The Parkview girls won three individual events — Skye Gross in the long jump (17-4 1/2), Alaye Barnum in the triple jump (33-10 1/2) and Kyla Turner in the discus (107-1).
Maya McFadden (200, 27.79) and Simone Roberts (300, 42.76) won events for the GAC girls, while Collins Hill’s girls got first-place finishes from Sydney Augmon (800, 2:25.40) and Faith Terry (60 hurdles, 10.09). Peachtree Ridge’s Mariah Brooks won the girls 100 (13.10).
