LAWRENCEVILLE — A rough first quarter doomed Mountain View’s football team in a 41-14 loss to Jefferson on Friday.
The Bears fought back in the fourth quarter, but a 28-0 halftime deficit thanks to a 21-point first quarter by Jefferson was too much to overcome. Dragons star and Georgia commitment Malaki Starks had two touchdown runs in the first quarter of 12 and 1 yards, and also threw a third-quarter TD pass to Spencer Neese that stretched the lead to 41-0. Starks also had two interceptions on defense.
Tre Reece had 48- and 40-yard TD runs for Jefferson, and Kaiden Bailey had a 25-yard scoring run. Reece finished with seven rushes for 148 yards, and teammate Sammy Brown rushed seven times for 106 yards.
Mason Kidd threw fourth-quarter TD passes to Justin Wilson (six yards) and Eric Hart (21 yards) to get Mountain View on the board. Kidd was held to 9 of 16 passing for 64 yards. Rafael Nelson rushed 10 times for 66 yards for the Bears.
