Lanier’s Taj Barnes hopes to follow a breakout junior season with an even better one for the Longhorns, who made the Class AAAAAA semifinals in 2018.

Lanier running back Taj Barnes announced his college commitment Tuesday night, choosing Fordham.

The rising senior’s offer list reached double figures and included schools like Air Force, Wofford, Coastal Carolina, Georgetown and Dartmouth before he settled on Fordham, located in the Bronx in New York City. His older brother Ashton played college football at Air Force.

Barnes, who has a 3.98 GPA, helped the Longhorns to the Class AAAAAA semifinals last season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pounder rushed for 1,269 yards and nine touchdowns as a junior.
