Lakeside’s rough season continued last week in a lopsided loss to Central Gwinnett. The Vikings have scored only six points in their first six games, and their losing streak is up to 15 games. All signs point toward a comfortable Parkview victory this week. That said, the Panthers want to play a clean game, take care of the task quickly and steer clear of injuries.
Last week brought a tough region opener for Parkview, which trailed Norcross 10-7 at halftime and 17-7 in the third quarter. The Panthers stormed back, then scored on a 51-yard pass from Jordan Williams to Jared Brown with 24 seconds left for the game-winner.
Williams threw for 210 yards and a pair of scores, both to Brown, who had five catches for 125 yards. Teammate C.J. Daniels had five catches for 95 yards. Running back Cody Brown also fueled the victory with 21 carries for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He scored an 80-yard TD on his first carry.
The victory was Parkview’s third straight — Milton, Tift County and Norcross — since a disappointing loss to Lowndes.
“It was great to be able to handle some adversity, handle it with great maturity,” Parkview coach Eric Godfree said. “It’s one of the things we preach, to have toughness and learn to handle adversity against a good football team. We played with a lot more energy in the second half.”
