Druw Jones

Wesleyan’s Druw Jones is the Daily Post’s Player of the Year.

Three Gwinnett high school baseball players were selected for this week’s 2021 Prospect Development Pipeline League, a joint event from Major League Baseball and USA Baseball.

Peachtree Ridge’s Matthew Hoskins, Wesleyan’s Druw Jones and Buford’s Riley Stanford were chosen for the July 24-31 league, hosted at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, N.C., and at Calfee Park in Pulaski, Va.

The PDP League serves as the primary identification event for the 18U National Team in 2021. It is an invitation-only showcase for players eligible for next year’s MLB Draft.

A staff featuring former pro players, along with professional, college and high school coaches, will work with the players for a week that includes games, development sessions, educational seminars and other programming to prepare players for a career in pro baseball.

Players chosen from the PDP League will earn invitations to 18U National Team Trials from Aug. 29-Sept. 3 in Tampa, Fla.
