Grayson’s Griffin Scroggs (70) prepares to snap the football during a 2020 game against Mill Creek.

Grayson senior Griffin Scroggs announced Monday that he has backed off his commitment from the Georgia Tech football program.

The 6-foot-5, 309-pound interior lineman, a three-star prospect by 247Sports.com, committed to the Yellow Jackets in June. At the time, he had close to 20 offers, including one from the Georgia Bulldogs that came in early June.

“I would like to thank (Tech) Coach (Geoff) Collins and Coach (Brent) Key for giving me an opportunity to play for Georgia Tech in the future but after conversations with my family and those close to me I will be de-committing from Ga Tech,” Scroggs wrote in a Tweet.

Scroggs earned second-team all-state honors from MaxPreps last season after helping Grayson to the state championships. He also won a state title as a sophomore when he played at Buford.
