Grayson’s Geoffrey Pierce is one of five finalists for Naismith National Boys Coach of the Year, awarded annually by the Atlanta Tipoff Club to the nation’s top high school basketball coach.

Pierce’s team is ranked No. 1 in Georgia, as well as No. 2 nationally in the MaxPreps’ Xcellent 25 poll and No. 3 nationally by ESPN.

The other candidates for the boys coaching honor are Luke Barnwell of Sunrise Christian (Kans.), Kevin Boyle of Montverde Academy (Fla.), Mike Jones of DeMatha Catholic (Md.) and Thomas Ryan of Dorman (S.C.).
