BUFORD — Buford opened the Class AAAAA softball playoffs with a 17-0 and 16-1 sweep of Riverwood on Tuesday.
Both games went three innings for the Wolves (20-9), who will host the second round next week.
In the opener, Ansleigh Hollifield was the winning pitcher. Emma Castorri connected on a three-run home run to lead the attack. Anabel Adams and Emi Hall each had two hits and drove in a pair of runs while Abbi Perkins also recorded two hits and drove in a run.
In the closeout win, Riley Reese was the winning pitcher while Kennedi Bauman added a inning of relief. Perkins had three hits and drove in five runs while Adams connected on a lengthy three-run home run. Shamya Young contributed two hits and four RBIs in the victory.
