BUFORD — Buford celebrated a dozen senior athletes who signed National Letters of Intent to continue their careers in college in a ceremony at the school’s performing arts center Wednesday, the first day of the NCAA’s early signing period.
The Wolves softball team led the way with four signees, including Anabel Adams (North Georgia), Ansleigh Hollifield (Minnesota), Kaitlybn Pickens (Emmanuel College) and Kara Taylor (Piedmont College).
The wrestling team had three signees Wednesday, all of whom will compete for Division I programs beginning next year. Blaine Bergey signed with Princeton, while Charlie Darracott will wrestle for Stanford and Nick Stonecheck chose Old Dominion.
A pair of seniors from the Buford baseball team, Brad Hartman (Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College) and Joseph Salvo (Samford) also signed their letters, while the gymnastics (Cyrena Whalen, Temple), girls basketball (Tate Walters, Furman) and track and field (Kimberly Harris, USC) all had one athlete honored in Wednesday’s ceremony.
