SANDY SPRINGS – Wesleyan broke open a close game Tuesday and defeated Mt. Vernon 9-1 to clinch the Region 5-A baseball title.
The Wolves (21-5, 11-1) led only 2-1 after four innings before their bats got going. Holden Wilder went the first four innings on the mound to earn the win. Wilder allowed two hits and struck out three. Jason LaFrambois threw three innings to earn the save while supplying three hits to power the offense.
Charlie Taylor drove in three runs, Jalen Fulwood recorded two hits and two RBIs and Druw Jones had two hits and an RBI.
Norcross clinches playoff berth
NORCROSS – Norcross clinched a playoff berth in Region 7-AAAAAAA with its win over Berkmar. The Blue Devils' (16-12, 6-4) Sam Howard hit a three-run home run and Daniel Haab collected three hits to make a winner of Camp Stewart.
Norcross also defeated Duluth 5-4 with Garrett Murray and Elijah Hawkins each recording two hits in the victory.
Hebron Christian 10, North Hall 3
DACULA – Hebron Christian clinched a playoff berth with a 10-3 win over North Hall on Tuesday.
Thomas Headley led the Lions (13-12) with three hits and drove in three runs. Max Bennett also had three hits drove in two to make a winner of Zach Kwiatkowski on the mound. Kwiatkowski went 4 2/3 innings and Jackson Boyd relieved him for the final 2 1/3 innings to notch the save.
Commerce 10, Providence Christian 3
COMMERCE – Commerce defeated Providence Christian 10-3 on Tuesday.
Crawford Hansard led the Storm (6-21, 4-5) with two hits. Keegan Tranum and Cole Edwards each had a hit and drove in a run. Casey Luck tossed 3 2/3 innings of hitless relief while striking out six.
Norcross 3, Mill Creek 0
NORCROSS – Norcross blanked Mill Creek 3-0 in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA state tennis tournament on Tuesday.
Alex Karwisch won in singles as did the doubles tandems of Sam Carton and Jack Traylor along with James Swope and Andrew Franzen. Norcross advances to face West Forsyth in the second round.
Norcross 3, Mill Creek 2
NORCROSS – Norcross held on to defeat Mill Creek 3-2 on Tuesday in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA state tennis tournament. Payton Kane, Chloe Karwisch and Vanessa Greenstein all won singles matches to advance to the second round, where the Blue Devils will face West Forsyth.
Brookwood 3, Duluth 0
SNELLVILLE – Brookwood defeated Duluth 3-0 in the first round of the Class AAAAAAA state tennis tournament. Kendra Womack took a singles point for the Broncos (13-7). Allie Spyke and Abby Howell along with Kendall Monroe and Antonela Andelic took both doubles points in the win.

WATKINSVILLE – Mountain View shut out host Oconee County 2-0 on Tuesday. Jason Strambu and Chandler Evans scored goals for the Bears (12-5).
North Gwinnett 2, Grayson 0
SUWANEE – North Gwinnett shut out visiting Grayson 2-0 on Tuesday. Michael Walsh and Jonathan Laurent each scored a goal and assisted on the other's score. Ben Brink and Parker Pearce combined on the shutout in net for the Bulldogs (11-3-1).
Berkmar 3, Norcross 0
LILBURN – Berkmar finished its season with a 3-0 win over Norcross on Tuesday. Javi Garcia, Daniel Hernandez and Tommy Red scored goals for the Patriots.
Providence Christian 3, Pinecrest Academy 0
CUMMING – Providence Christian blanked host Pinecrest Academy 3-0 on Tuesday.
Luke Bradberry scored for the Storm 20 minutes into the first half. Sam Burnett scored early in the second half and Noah Williamson finished off the scoring with five minutes left in the game. Josh Jones made three saves to record his 19th career shutout for the Storm (8-8, 4-3).
Wesleyan 5, Riverside Military Academy 0
GAINESVILLE – Wesleyan scored five goals in the second half to defeat Riverside Military Academy 5-0 on Tuesday. Aiden Kresl made numerous saves in goal to help the Wolves (10-6, 5-2) stay in the contest until the offense woke up.
Liam Coxhead, Harrison Larner, Sean Renz, Javy Martinez and Sammy Johnson all scored goals.
North Gwinnett 1, Grayson 0
SUWANEE – North Gwinnett downed Grayson 1-0 in a non-region contest on Tuesday. Aliah Kitchens scored her 16th goal of the season while Kelly Hall recorded the clean sheet in goal for the Bulldogs (12-3).
Mountain View 2, Oconee County 0
WATKINSVILLE – Mountain View shut out Oconee County 2-0 on Tuesday. Kennedy Jackson had a goal and an assist to lead the Bears (10-6-1). Allison Flatt scored a goal and Annabel Kessinger supplied an assist. Shelby Suppes recorded the shutout in goal.
Wesleyan 2, Allatoona 2
PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan tied Allatoona 2-2 on Tuesday. Ashley Binney and Lily Tapp scored goals for the Wolves (7-5-2).
Pinecrest 7, Providence Christian 0
CUMMING – Pinecrest Academy blanked Providence Christian 7-0 on Tuesday. The loss drops the Storm to 8-6 overall and 1-4 in the region.
Brookwood 14, Lanier 3
SNELLVILLE – Brookwood handled visiting Lanier 14-3 on Tuesday. Tyler Banfield scored five goals to lead the Broncos (6-7). Mason Graves and Selassie Richardson each scored twice in the win.
Dacula 13, Chamblee 0
DACULA – Dacula shut out visiting Chamblee 13-0 on Tuesday. Justin Ballard led the Falcons (4-8) with three goals. Justin Fields and Matt Morgenroth each scored twice in the win.
Lovett 11, Greater Atlanta Christian 7
NORCROSS – Lovett defeated Greater Atlanta Christian 11-7 on Tuesday. Mason Duriez, Connor Maxa and Josh Rose each scored two goals for the Spartans (7-7, 4-0).
Wesleyan 11, Pinecrest Academy 8
PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan held off Pinecrest Academy 11-8 on Tuesday. J.D. Chipman led the Wolves (8-6) with six goals and two assists. Michael Nicklaus scored twice while Miller Thomason recorded 12 ground balls. Chandler Copenhaver made 15 saves in goal for Wesleyan.
Mountain View 7, South Forsyth 4
CUMMING – Mountain View downed host South Forsyth 7-4 on Tuesday. Anna Ramsden and Mina Muirhead each scored twice. Shelby Glasgow made five saves in goal for the Bears (12-2).

PEACHTREE CORNERS – Wesleyan defeated visiting Buford 21-4 on Tuesday. Emma-Kate Means stopped six shots for the Wolves (11-4, 3-0). Katie Tanner scored three goals, Elise Harper recorded three ground balls and Tabitha Conrad added three draw controls in the win.

JOHNS CREEK – Wesleyan squeaked by Hebron Christian 163-166 in a match played Tuesday at St. Ives Country Club. Will Stakel led the Wolves with a 36 while Kenny Duffin led the Lions with a 38.
