PREP ROUNDUP: Pittman beats buzzer in Eagles' lacrosse win

NORCROSS -- Connor Pittman scored with one second left in the match as Collins Hill bested Wesleyan 10-9 in boys' lacrosse action on Thursday.

Pittman had a total of three goals and one assist, while Russell Gardner and Andrew Martinez added two goals apiece.

Cody Lewis picked up the win in goal for the Eagles (3-3), making 12 saves.

For Wesleyan (2-3), Matt Zimmerman had four goals and one assist, while Myle Laughlin had two goals and one assists. Jake Miller added one goal and three assists, while Blake Center and Ryan Pahl each had a goal.

GIRLS LACROSSE

North 13, North Forsyth 2

SUWANEE -- North moved to 3-3 on the year with a 13-2 win against North Forsyth on Thursday.

Lauren Aycock led the team with four goals, while Katie Verret and Lindsey Cobb each had two goals. Chase Battle and Linden Huffman also caused four turnovers each on defense.

Brookwood 14, Norcross 5

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood picked up its first win of the year with a 14-5 win over Norcross on Thursday.

Haley Curtin had four goals, while Taylor Stercay and Lindsey Thompson each had three goals. Lauren Clay and Jordan Walker also contributed two goals apiece.

Brooke Wagner picked up the win in goal, making seven saves.

Northview 17, Wesleyan 8

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan dropped to 2-4 on the year with a 17-8 loss at home against Northview on Thursday.

Lindsay Moore had three goals for the Wolves, while Abi Irwin had two.

BASEBALL

Berkmar 4, Meadowcreek 1

LILBURN -- Berkmar picked up its first win of the year with a 4-1 win over Meadowcreek on Thursday.

Jordan Delgado pitched a complete game and struck out five, while also picking up two hits and scoring a run. Brendan Perez also had two hits and scored a run.

Wesleyan 7, Centennial 2

ROSWELL -- Wesleyan moved to 5-1 on the year with a 7-2 win over Centennial on Thursday.

Johnny Richards picked up the win on the mound and Trey Mannion had the save.

Sam Carter went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs, while Jahmai Jones was 2-for-3 with a double, three stolen bases and three runs scored.

Collins Hill 6, McEachern 1

POWDER SPRINGS -- Collins Hill moved to 2-3 on the year with a 6-1 win at McEachern on Thursday.

Mitch McCain picked up the win on the mound, pitching four innings and striking out six. He also had a double and an RBI.

Jon Topoleski was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base, while Trevor Powers was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Brookwood 13, Providence 5

SNELLVILLE -- Brookwood moved to 2-3 on the year with a 13-5 win over Providence on Thursday.

Noah Albury picked up the win on the mound, pitching two innings and striking out one.

Tre Lawrence went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, while Brock Baughcum also had three hits. Zack Moon added a two-run home run and an RBI sac fly.

For Providence, Max Broom went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs scored, while Campbell Baldwin had two RBI. Charlie Scott added an RBI, a stolen base and two runs scored.

GAC 7, Druid Hills 4

NORCROSS -- GAC moved to 3-1 on the year with a 7-4 win against Druid Hills on Thursday.

Patrick Stone was the winning pitcher, going six innings, while Carter Willyerd picked up the save.

Ross Wood went 2-for-3 with a double and a triple.

West Forsyth 7, North 6

CUMMING -- West Forsyth scored three unearned runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh as it beat North, 7-6, on Thursday.

North (3-3) scored six runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead, but couldn't hold on.

Cody Short was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Justin Moran had a two-run single and Brady Powell had an RBI single.

Milton 7, Mill Creek 1

MILTON -- Mill Creek dropped to 2-2 on the year with a 7-1 loss at Milton on Thursday.

Shane Seckinger took the loss as he pitched four innings, giving up four earned runs and six strikeouts.

Chad Anderson had an RBI groundout.

Gainesville 13, Mountain View 0

LAWRENCEVILLE -- Mountain View dropped its first game of the season with a 13-0 loss to Gainesville on Thursday.

Ben Utley had a hit.

BOYS SOCCER

Providence 2, George Walton 1

MONROE -- Providence moved to 3-4 on the year and 1-0 in the region with a 2-1 win over George Walton on Thursday.

Connor Jones and Nick Hoehne had the goals for the Storm.

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan moved to 2-3-1 on the year with a 0-0 tie against Pinecrest on Thursday.The Wolves had a missed penalty kick and a shot go off the post to keep the game scoreless. Carter Flachbarth picked up the shutout in goal, making four saves.

Wesleyan 3, Pinecrest 0

NORCROSS -- Wesleyan moved to 3-4 on the year with a 3-0 win against Pinecrest on Thursday.

Ellie Hall had two goals and one assist, while Christina Moraitis added a goal.

Moraitis and Grace Hodges combined for nine saves in goal as Hodges also had an assist.

Providence 5, George Walton 1

MONROE -- Providence moved to 5-2 on the year and 1-0 in the region with a 5-1 win over George Walton on Thursday.

Katharine Slayton led the way with three goals, while Robyn Lowndes had two goals. Bekah Henry and Brittany Tuttle controlled things on the defensive end, holding down the host offense all night.

GAC 11, Sine (Denmark) 4

NORCROSS -- GAC moved to 6-1 on the year with an 11-4 win over the Sine Sports School from Denmark on Thursday.

Halle Huff led the team with four goals and one assist, while Rachel Garcia had three goals and four assists. Mollie Arrendale added two goals and three assists, while Kayla Puzas and Perry Bitzer each added a goal.

Grayson 3, Heritage 0

LOGANVILLE -- Grayson moved to 5-0 on the year with a 3-0 win over Heritage on Thursday.

Chelsea Norton, Brittney Bennett and Alexa Webb each had a goal for the Rams, while Kadye Picklesimer had 10 saves in goal.

Mill Creek 3, Collins Hill 2

HOSCHTON -- Mill Creek moved to 6-2 on the year and 2-0 in the region with a 3-2 win over Collins Hill on Thursday.

Picking up wins for the Hawks were Quentin Lavender at No. 1 singles, Adam Gonterman at No. 2 singles and Brad Adkins at No. 3 singles.

Collins Hill (6-2, 0-1) earned wins from the No. 1 doubles team of Jake Inderrieden and Marcus Maloney, and the No. 2 doubles team of Peyton Rushing and Josh Jackson.

Peachtree Ridge 3, Norcross 2

NORCROSS -- Peachtree Ridge moved to 4-2 on the year and 2-0 in the region with a 3-2 win over Norcross on Thursday.

Picking up wins for the Lions were Alex Makarenko at No. 1 singles, Kevin Lim at No. 3 singles, and the No. 1 doubles' team of Taylor Foote and Alex Peed.

DULUTH -- Providence moved to 2-5 on the year and 2-0 in the region with a 3-2 win over Hebron on Thursday.

Picking up wins for the Storm were Jon North at No. 1 singles, the No. 1 doubles' team of Taylor McGloghlin and Matthew Sheffield, and the No. 2 doubles' team of Zach Beavers and Daniel Chi.

Picking up wins for the Lions were Abby Owens at No. 1 singles, Jena Kelly at No. 2 singles, Ali Mills at No. 3 singles, and the No. 1 doubles' team of Riley Guise and Sreeja Choppara.

Norcross' only win came from the No. 2 doubles' team of Heather Shine and Hannah Appel.

SNELLVILLE -- Duluth defeated Shiloh 196-248 at the Country Club of Gwinnett on Thursday.

Kieman Ambrila shot a 44, while Sean DeRossett shot a 45 for Duluth.

DULUTH -- Norcross got a 39 from Clay Trocchio and a 40 from Zach Healy as it beat Mountain View 160-190 at the Berkeley Hills Country Club on Thursday.
