WINDER -- It looked like Buford and Apalachee were headed to overtime, but Elias Gomez of Buford scored with five seconds left in regulation to lift the Wolves 3-2 over the Wildcats on Tuesday night.
Buford got two goals from Jose Aguirre, while Matt Bonadies provided an assist. The win ran Buford's record to 4-0.
BOYS SOCCER
Brookwood 3, Kennesaw Mountain 1
KENNESAW -- Brookwood improved to 3-1 on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over Kennesaw Mountain.
Bryson Dorsey led Brookwood with two goals, both off assists from Brahan Gamarra. Saman Williams provided the third goal off a feed from Mitch Hotop.Andy Harris picked up the win at keeper, saving five shots.
Archer 3, Walnut Grove 1
LOGANVILLE -- Archer won its first match of the year with a 3-1 defeat of Walnut Grove on Tuesday night.
Archer (1-2) got one goal each from Thomas Long, Justin Guevara and Michael Ward.
Roswell 3, Wesleyan 2
NORCROSS -- Wesleyan's bid for its first win of the year came up short as the Wolves fell 3-2 to Roswell on Tuesday night.
Roswell led 3-0 midway in the second half when Cort Coxhead put Wesleyan (0-3) on the board with an unassisted goal.
Benji Johnson scored off an assist from Will Sharon with about two minutes left to play to cut the score to 3-2.
The Wolves had a chance to tie the game in the final minute, but missed a header with 10 seconds left to play.
GIRLS SOCCER
Collins Hill 1, St. Pius. 1
ATLANTA -- Collins Hill remained unbeaten on Tuesday night as the Eagles battled St. Pius to a 1-1 tie.
Kelsey Lawrence assisted the lone goal for the Eagles (3-0-1) to Desiree Bowen, while keeper Halla Jibreen had a solid game with eight saves.
Amanda Bruemmer, Kaitlyn Del Salvio, Kendall Farr and Michaela Routh all teamed up on defense to hold St. Pius to a single goal.
Archer 8, Walnut Grove 0
LOGANVILLE -- Archer picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday night with an 8-0 shutout over Walnut Grove.
Archer (1-1-1) was led by two goals each from Caroline Mangum, Marissa Jordan and Nahisha Saint-Hilaire. Rachael Pfeiffer recorded the shutout at keeper.
Buford 5, Apalachee 1
WINDER -- Buford ran its unbeaten streak to 4-0 on Tuesday night with a 5-1 win over Apalachee.
Mia Edwards led the attack with two goals, while Melissa Sullivan and Ceely Coker each scored one. Brie Smith added a goal and an assist, while McKenna Hardwood, Kennedy Webster and Ambria Shutts each helped with assists.
BOYS LACROSSE
GAC 23, Buford 1
BUFORD -- Whit Anderson and Gunner Cape scored four goals each on Tuesday night as Greater Atlanta Christian ran away with a 23-1 win over Buford. Anderson also had three assists, while Cape added one.
Matthew Roush added three goals and an assist for the Spartans (3-0, 3-0), while Sam Harte added two goals and two assists.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Johns Creek 9, North 4
SUWANEE -- North Gwinnett suffered its first loss of the year, falling 9-4 against Johns Creek on Tuesday night.
Lindsey Cobb had a goal, an assist and forced three turnovers for North (2-1), while Katie Verret scored a goal and collected four groundballs.
Victoria Delnero recorded 10 saves at keeper for the Bulldogs.
Wesleyan 18, Lovett 15
ATLANTA -- Courtney O'Leary scored nine goals on Tuesday night as Wesleyan outlasted Lovett 18-15.
Maddy Brehmer also helped in the win with three goals and three assists. The Wolves improved to 1-2.
BOYS GOLF
Commerce defeats Hebron
COMMERCE -- Hebron traveled to Commerce on Tuesday and fell 179 to 205 in a match played at Double Oaks.
Low medalist of the day was Commerce's Jake Turpin with a 43.
GIRLS GOLF
Brooks shoots 44 for Hebron
COMMERCE -- Hebron's Reece Brooks carded the low round for the day on Tuesday at Double Oaks with a 44 as she beat golfers from both Commerce and Oglethorpe County.
