Mountain View boys advance to play Norcross

LAWRENCEVILLE— After watching a nine-point halftime lead dwindle to three in the final minutes, Jaymin Harris knocked down a shot with 90 seconds to go to give the Bears a two-possession lead.

From there, Mountain View made its free throws hanging on to beat Habersham Central 60-51 in the Region 7-AAAAAA boys play-in game. The Bears advance to play top-seeded Norcross on Wednesday at Duluth.

“You get an opportunity to play against the No. 1 seed, you play your game and anything can happen,” Mountain View head coach Kyle Keefer said. “We are kind of on a roll, we'll give them our best shot.”

Harris led the Bears with 12 points, Andre Joseph scored 11 and Deante Harris added 10 as Habersham spent the night focused on Bears' shooters Michael Jenkins and Wes Harter.

“They hugged our shooters and made other guys make plays,” Keefer said.
